Teething hell

Dd got her first two teeth at the same time at 5 months. Now here we are at almost 9 months and three more teeth have broken through with another one right behind it IN LESS THAN A WEEK! Plus she's congested so she's just generally pissed off most of the time. You can tell when the pain hits because she'll lose it in a second and grab her poor little foot and chomp down. :( orajel, teething tablets, and Tylenol are in constant rotation at our house. I just want this crap to end!

Makes me wish she had just been born with all her teeth lol. Anyone else going through hell with teething?

Re: Teething hell

  • Ugh, DS started cutting his first top tooth while we were driving 1700 miles from Texas to California. It played yo-yo with his gums for the entire week and the second one started to come. Plus he picked up a cold and had a bad reaction to the crap in the air (my hometown has the worst air pollution in the country). And in the middle of that, we had to drive back to Texas with a stressed out, teething, congested, sick 8 month old.

We've got 1 and a half through and I'm hoping we're near the end for at least a week. We both need the break.

  • Yes!! The bottom two were a breeze compared to the top ones coming in now. DS also has a cold right now and is pretty miserable, poor baby :( We gave him ibuprofen a few nights this week. He also really enjoys chewing on cold carrot sticks and green beans. I was even thinking about getting an amber necklace to see if that helps but he can't wear it at daycare so why bother.
  • I always thought those amber necklaces were a little silly, then desperately caved this past week when nothing was working and it was suggested to me for like the 100th time. SO glad I did.

  • i THINK we might. So, DD already has ALL her front teeth. bottom, top, and the ones next to those. soo..next in line is Molars. way too early at not-even-9 months, right? Except she is sticking ALL the things in her the back of her mouth, chewing a lot(but WAY back in her mouth. almost making herself gag each time), drooling a lot, and today FUH-REAKED out when i put her down in her crib (no, no ear infection) and has been super cling-a-saurus.

so, we're going to try tylenol and see if maybe that helps a little.   idk. poor kid

That's funny! When DS is being clingy, it's bittersweet. He wants to be held/cries when you put him down, but as soon as you hold him he pushes off of you as if he wants to explore/play. I can't please him. I just wish he'd snuggle.

^ THIS.  DRIVES ME BATTY. After awhile I'm like "Ok, it's in the sling for you!" and stick her in there for awhile.

Since then, she's started crying for like 30 seconds when i put her down for her naps/bed so I think we have  some separation anxiety. Idk. it's not very long at all, just a big protesting fuss like "HEY LADY, GET BACK HERE" then she babbles to her bear about it.

  • YES!  At 4 months her 2 bottom front teeth came in at the same time.  Then at 7 months all 4 incisors came in at the same time.  And now and a little over 8 months when I finally thought we were getting a slight reprieve I noticed her top 2 front teeth are coming in.  At. The. Same. Time.  Poor DD can't catch a break.

I lol'd at all of this!!!

We're at almost 9 months and HAVE NO TEETH AT ALL. I'm hoping all this velcro-baby-ness is due to that and not separation. Someday we'll have some chompers...

It very well could be! So, she ended up sleeping for over 12 hours last night, took a 2 hour morning nap (un heard of recently) and has been scorning the bottle after a few days of guzzling on top of feasting on everything soo the clinginess very well could have been a growth spurt.

Our kid has an abnormal amount of teeth. Believe me, i've never met a 9month old with as many teeth as she has.

  • They say giving them orjel will make it worse, cause it hardens the gums and makes it harder to push throw, so we stop using it at our house and just started using pain meds before bed time (that's when his teeth really hurt) and he is 9 months and has 7 teeth now

  • We did pain meds as well when it was bad before bed. Usually just cuddles and cold things when shes was awake :)

  • DS has joined in the teething hell category.  He has never been a super unhappy baby, but today he won't stop crying.  He had a meltdown in the grocery store and wanted me to hold him the entire way through.  My arms were killing me but I couldn't put him down.  Cling-a-saurus is right on!  I have no idea what teeth are coming in because he will not open his mouth for me to see them.  He got the first bottom tooth almost a month ago, but that didn't seem nearly as bad as this.  I feel so bad for the poor guy...
