Recommend your camera!

Our trusty Canon point-and-shoot camera died this week (it was 4 years old). In the market for a new camera, but know nothing about cameras! We need something easy to use, not sure if we should go the DSLR route or? We liked our old camera because it was tiny and easy to take everywhere, although now my phone has a good camera (Galaxy S4) so I've been using it a lot...what camera do you have? TIA!

I bought a DSLR, but found that I still needed a decent point and shoot. The Rebel T3i is just too big and bulky for everyday use. I need a camera that I can just throw in my purse. A lot of people use their smartphone, but I still think they have a ways to go in terms of taking quality, printable pictures.

As I said, I have a Rebel T3i. I really like it a lot, but I don't feel like I use the features on it. I just don't have time to figure it all out. However, I love how quickly it takes pics with little kids. I was always just missing a shot with my old point and shoot. I paid $600+ for the speed :-)

Sony nex5n...love. I wasn't ready for a dslr but it takes pics like one. Very easy to use. I always get compliments on the quality of my photos.

Canon makes the best point and shoot cameras and Nikon makes better SLRs, in my limited experience. I have a Nikon D5100 and am very happy with it. The S4 takes comparable pictures and video to most point and shoots that you'll find on the market, so I'd probably get the SLR for the times when you want something better than that.
