I just want some damn shrimp!

I just want some shrimp in some kind of buttery concoction grilled to perfection! That's all! My hubby made himself some grilled garlic shrimp the other night so I took one and ate it. ONE MEASLY LITTLE SHRIMP. He then proceeds to sit at our dinner table and tell me how I can't eat it because i'm pregnant and i'm not "Thinking of our baby." I swear i'm gonna hit him. I may just go to red lobster or something without him one time and eat all the damn shrimp I want!

  • Eat away... My DH has become the food natzi too! I eat what I want when he's not around :)
  • Damn it. Now I want shrimp too. And tell him you are the one growing the baby. Maybe he should trust that you know what is and isn't safe to eat for the baby.

  • Shrimp is completely fine to eat! He needs to take a chill pill and do his research, or you need to stand up for yourself. If my husband tried to tell me I couldn't eat something he'd be in for a rude awakening.
  • I loooovvveeee shrimp!! That's basically the only sea food I'm ok with eating hehe. It think it's like 6ounces (or so ) safe a week to eat. Do it!!! Or go with a friend and enjoy :)

  • Oh damn, I eat shrimp every two weeks or so. I guess my baby is screwed. If my husband told me not to eat something I knew was safe I would laugh in his face and eat it anyway. Just enjoy your shrimp!

  • Um it is perfectly fine to eat shrimp while pregnant.
  • Just had some salt and pepper shrimp for dinner this week.  They even had the heads on still.  I tore those suckers off with glee.
  • Yep shrimp is just fine. DH never questions me on food. Ever. He laughed at me the time I was 3/4 done with a sub i forgot to microwave. I lived. lol. He isn't huge on my choice of having a glass of wine xmas eve after the kids are in bed, and a glass of moscato with him (he hates wine and it's all I can get him to drink with me lol) NYE. IMO it's ok more than twice in pregnancy, but I just chose those two dates only, one glass, because i know he is uncomfortable with it, as well as unless it's an occasion, I want more than one glass. There is no point lol!

  • I eat all kinds of seafood. I just always make sure it's cooked all the way through. Most seafood sold in big grocery stores is totally fine. All the seafood I've seen on "no-no" lists are usually not as common or only found in specailty markets and resturants.

If ANYONE tried to tell me what to eat/not to eat, I'd make a point to eat that thing in front of them after promptly delivering a throat punch.

  • If my husband tried to pull some kind of bullshit don't care about the baby guilt trip with me . . . I can't even. Nut punching would be just for starters. Even if it WAS something on the do not eat list, which shrimp is NOT.
yes. I just can't even w/ these kinds of posts. Where do these men come from? How do they get married?
I mean, seriously. Who the eff acts like that -- TO ANYONE -- let alone their pregnant wife. I might kick him out. Sorry, OP, but your husband is a dick. And completely wrong.
  • My husband would never dream of telling me not to eat something, even if it was on the no list.

  • I made my husband brownies one day and had to lick the spoon behind his back because he was all freaked out. It's so funny to me because he's such a laid back guy. He gave me a hairy eyeball for putting a Splenda in my tea once too. I actually thought it was kinda cute of him haha.
