Just want to cryyy and sleep

I started our bed time routine at 830, it is now quarter to 4am!! And still no luck!

My persistence is killing me. I don't want to take her into bed with me because she was doing so good in her crib a few weeks ago so I know she can do it. But 7+ hours of rocking / trying to get her down than rocking again .. It's wearing me down. I'm so jealous of everyone that can get their baby to sleep within an hour!

What happens is I'll be so exhausted come morning that I take her into bed with me to nap and we nap far too long. It's a never ending cycle.

Sorry for the lack of a point or real question. And yet again another sleep post.

Re: Just want to cryyy and sleep

  • Kuddos for you for staying persistant! I give in so easily. LO sleeps on her own half the night and when she wakes up and I cantt go back down I let her sleep with me. Ive had those nights though. I just found that I become more frustrated and dont like her seeing me that way cause it makes it worse. Good luck and hang in there mommy! you're doing great!

  • Thank you!! It's becoming such a challenge, it's really taking a toll on me. Luckily she just wants to cuddle and rock, as much as I love doing that it still means I get no sleep.. Sometimes I really just don't know how I keep my eyes open. Maybe I should just take her to bed with me... But than I feel like all this progress isn't gonna get us anywhere if I do that.

Just gotta keep telling myself I was blessed with a healthy girl and this too shall pass.
  • You have way more patience and motivation than I do. I give up after an hour, maybe 2, and just let her sleep on my chest like she wants. I can only sacrifice sleep so long before deciding it's not worth it.

  • I agree with Bamgal…. take a break from the crib and get some sleep.  Your LO is still young, there's plenty of time to work on crib sleeping. Try again in a couple weeks.

  • Omg you poor thing. I would recommend baby Merlin magic Sleepsuit if she is over 12 lbs. it worked great with Dd1 and I've only used it for naps with dd2 but she falls asleep very quickly with it on. She usually needs to be rocked for naps but not with the suit on. Good luck.

  • I agree that maybe you could try taking a break from the crib. If she's staying awake for so long she may be over-tired. A few nights of good sleep may be just what she (AND YOU!) needs!

  • DD was doing this a few weeks ago. I was about to lose my mind. Try giving the crib a break for a few days. She is likely overtired, and needs to be with you in order to sleep well at this point. This won't create any bad habits right now, so do what you need to do to get sleep. Hang in there!

  • I've been taking her into bed with me when I can in the mornings but when we sleep together she wants to comfort nurse all night which makes it hard to sleep cause I'm afraid she will suffocate. She also nurses too much when she's in bed with me than pukes a big milky puke, probably because she's half asleep and doesn't realize she's still taking in milk. This is why I've been persistent, I would love to just cuddle her and sleep all night though.
