MOTN check in and GTKY

It's 2:22 and our first feeding after a 2 1/2 hour stretch of sleep. I have yet to be asleep though. Walker is now fighting sleep.

GTKY-
What was your major in college? How many times did you change it?
If you didn't go to college, what was your first job? Did you like it?

I majored in social work, minor is psych. Never changed it.

Re: MOTN check in and GTKY

  • Just finished feeding #2. It's 3;30.

I majored in accounting. I had an undeclared minor in management and graduated being 1 class short for it to have been a declared major (learned too late to get that 1 class).

  • Finished feeding, re-swaddled, and diaper change. Now I'm just pumping since a bit full still.

My first major was Veterinary Technology but I didn't have the thick skin for it. Lots of crying from me.  Those labs gave nightmares and I hated seeing animals in pain.

I switched to Accounting as my major with minor in Business after that. Huuuuge shift. I've always enjoyed numbers and it has worked out great for me.
  • We haven't gone to bed yet. A is just now falling asleep. Le sigh.

Business -> child psychology -> social work. Never finished though. Started getting sick, couldn't keep up with school and job (part time car mover for national rental car.) while on dialysis. Didn't work for 2 &1/2 years. Couldn't walk for about a year of that due to a staph infectiom in my right hip prothesis. Started working to cover bills about 6 months after transplant. Worked in video game testing for six months. Couldn't find a job until the following February, which is my current customer service/exit security for rental car company out of sea tac.

    I'm kind of a mess.

Little dude was super fussy and started screaming at like 9:30 tonight... Not sure what was up with that. He has since been a little off, was up at midnight and now again at 3... Finally got him back to sleep *I think*. Very unusual for him.

This is long for my GTKY: I started out as a bio/pre nursing major and was in a 3-2 program where I would get a bio degree from my college and a nursing degree from Hopkins all in 5 years. Turns out I wanted to enjoy college, as I was also captain of my swim team, so I decided to switch to Bio-psych in middle of junior year and just have fun before applying to nursing schools for after graduation. I basically fulfilled the major requirements for bio-psych due to my nursing prereqs, and it got me out of a bio- majors only research class where you did a 1.5 hr presentation... that I realllllly didn't want to take. Win, win for me! I went to University of MD for nursing, in which I actually have an entry-level graduate degree. I also minored in Spanish.

  • 3:15 and in our second feeding.

I double majored in political science and sociology with a minor in Asian studies. I entered college as an international relations major so only a slight change. I changed to graduate in 3 yrs vs 4.
  • I haven't played along yet with the MOTN check ins, but I am going to try and join in more...

Up for our first feeding at 3:00. Had a bottle at 9pm and has been sacked out since then. Working on falling back asleep now.

My first major was agriculture communications and I switched slightly soph year to add a secondary major of agriculture education. I am one if the rare people who actually still have a job in my major 15 years after graduating. Love every minute of it!

  • Up at 4 after a 6.5 hour stretch...L is fed and just sitting her fat and happy looking around...

I majored in nursing at Penn State...never changed majors...although in HS I was deciding between nursing and teaching I now get jealous when teacher friends get weekends/holidays/summers off, I didnt think that one through!! Benefit of nursing though is I work a very flexiable PT schedule and I love what I do!

  • Both girls fed and down, although I'm not sure about Lizzy - she's still fussing a bit from gas.

I was a music performance major in college with a minor in math. I taught flute and piano lessons for about 10 years and loved loved loved it. I love teaching. But it's mostly part time work w no benes so then I went back to school and got a masters in environmental mgmt and then another masters in civil engineering. Now I work as a hydrologist for the USGS. It's good work but I miss music and teaching.

  • I'm so so so tired this is our 2nd feeding since he went down at 830. Damn 2 month shots!!!

I was a pasych major and never changed. Then got a masters in social work.

  • LO has been thrown out of his routine due to family visits the last 2 weeks. The kid was exhausted yesterday and fought naps. We're on our 3rd feeding since he passed out at 8.

I majored in Psych, but I knew sophomore year I made a mistake. I felt like I was too far into course work to change, and just stayed with it. I took animal science classes my senior year because I finished my BA early, but I never did anything with that. I'm starting classes this spring to go to nursing school

  • Been up for almost 2 hours with my older daughter. She's been on/off sick since LO was born, today has been the worst of it.

I majored in business. Never changed it, but during pre req classes, contemplated changing into law..same pre req classes, so no real change.

  • /facepalm. LO has been up and down alllll night, reflected by my constant appearance on the board... It just so happens that I woke up sick this morning. LO is usually very good at staying on schedule through the night. . . . Maybe she senses my discomforts? Either way, sad panda here.

I majored in criminal justice for my associates. Had big plans, but now that Luna is here, I don't want to join law enforcement anymore. I plan on going back to school and am debating between neuroscience and business
  • LO went to bed at 9:30, was up at 1 ( when I was awake for two hours to her one hour, Dan insomnia) and now it's 5 am and she is up again. can't wait to get a stretch longer than the hours or so. If so get frustrated with those who are like " my baby only sleeps seven hours through three night". But I digress...

My major was drama education and I bloody loved it, we had such a laugh every day, , and we were probably your typical drama bunch. There was only~16 of us.
  • Holy crap! It's 5am and LO just woke up for the first time since going down around 11pm!!! This is the first time she's slept through the night and after she cluster fed all evening I was sure we were going to have a rough night. Guess she was just tanking up! Happy momma here :)

I first majored in Communication Arts until I realized the school I went to mainly focused on journalism and pr. I wanted more of the graphic design route, so in the middle of my sophomore year I transferred colleges to another liberal arts college that had a graphic design concentration. So I ended up majoring in Art and had a minor in Art History. I had enough art history classes for it to be a major, but couldn't take some of the other required courses like western civ, etc to make it official.

  • Ugh. Baby is asleep, but for some reason I'm wide awake. So I guess I get to play.

    Major: business (marketing)
    Minor: French
    Never changed it
  • Up for 3rd feeding and LO made it eventful by blowing out his clean diaper as soon as he finished eating, so we had to change that, his clothes, and the changing pad. THEN he peed everywhere, so we did it all over again. Wide awake, we both are.

Anyway, I began at a community college and received my AA and then transferred to Central Michigan University to finish my BA. The degree plan was teaching > early child development > community development.

I started my MBA in Healthcare Management at Western Governors University three weeks before I got my BFP, so I'm still in school right now. And woefully behind, I might add. Fortunately, much of the content I have left in this term is work-related, so (and this will likely be my FFFC) I'll be doing a lot of homework when I go back to work next week.

  • She hasn't woken yet since 11pm! I woke up cuz my DHs alarm went off.

My major in college was Elementary Ed. Got my BA but decided I didn't want to do it after graduating. I worked for a science museum for a few years per diem and retail because I needed benefits. Eventually, retail sucked me in and worked in mgmt for 10 years or so b4 I became SAHM. My first job was at "Cheap John's". It was kinda like a mini big lots.

I wanted to be a pharmacist. After a little research, it looked like a lonely job. At the time, there was only one school in the state that offered that field. I deft was not moving there. Now there is a school right down the street.

I ended up getting a degree in Information Technology and Computer Networking Science.

I majored in English which I loved! Followed by law school... Haven't changed since,
  • Can't bump during the night 'cause my phone is broken. LO was up for an hour and a half, I think 'cause the constipation is starting to bother her.

Started with political science. Added Linguistics. Minored in Spanish.

  • We were up all night long. I'm hoping it was just due to DD's 2 month shots and won't be a pattern this week.

Majored in psychology and loved it, minored in sociology which was interesting but I never used it. Ended up going to law school, really regret not sticking with psych. Maybe one day...
