How many ounces?

How old is your LO and how many ounces do you give him/her? My daughter is 5 weeks 3 days and she gets 4 oz every feeding (3-4) hours. We deal with a lot of spit up. I though it was because I gave her more than she needed but whenever I gave her 2 she would cry from hunger. So how much are you giving LO?

2013jem any advice on how you got on that schedule?? My little one is 3 weeks 4 days, he eats about 2.5-4 every 3 hours but we have trouble getting him to eat his whole bottle cause he falls asleep. He also has acid reflux so that might be it too, but I am trying to get him on a bit of a schedule if possible.

I apparently have the big eater of the group! He's eating 5 ounces every 3-4 hours. He's 3 weeks 3 days. But, he was also 9 pounds at birth!

My lactation consultant said the rule of thumb they use is (weight x 2.5) / # of meals a day to maintain weight, but the goal is for them to gain so a little more.

For example my LO is almost 9 lbs so

(9 lbs x 2.5) / 8 meals a day = 2.8 so shoot for 3 oz a meal

If yours eats less often or is bigger or smaller, then adjust as need be. Remember they also cluster feed sometimes (mine does right before bedtime) so she doesn't feel the need to eat as often at night, and then she can eat more, about 4+ oz

6 weeks today and normally 3-4 oz every 2-3 hours. I think she's going through a growth spit now since she's feeding an ounce or two every 30 min or so when awake and more fussy.

My LO is 3 weeks and eats anywhere between 2-4 ounces every 3 or so hours. We had a dr apt today and the dr said to just take cues from her as to whether or not she is hungry and how much she wants... She said that we don't always eat the same amount at every meal so we can't expect them to as well. Not sure if that's helpful or not...

I think LO is going thru a 5 week growth spurt! Up until yesterday he was talking 4oz every 4 hours .... Now he's taking 6oz every 6 hours ....
