XP: multiple placental lakes

Today I had one of my bi weekly NSTs and BPP and was told everything looked fine by the tech and was sent to check out. As I was about to walk out I noticed a new thing on my problem list they give me each week. Multi placenta lakes. So I ask the lady checking me out who asks the tech. The tech goes to ask my MFM ( who still hasnt talked to me) and all she will say is that they are monitoring it and they're already watching for IUGR. So I ask if this related to my PAI thing. She says it could be that or my positive ANA or could be nothing. Not to worry. Um yeah right. So any experience? I have a NST with my OB on Friday and plan on calling and asking that I be able to talk to her as well. For mobile users I am 33 weeks and 5 days.

  • I can't help I'm sorry. I did want to say how unfair that is that your MFM left you in the dark like that. I am one of those people that needs to know either way or I'll just stress so I am sorry they did that.

  • I have no experience but I am really sorry you are dealing with this.  I am a worrier, and there is no way I wouldn't be on Google freaking myself out.  But I'm a little confused.  Does your MFM not sit down and go over your results during your appointment?  Do they send the results to your OB to discuss with you?  I would personally have a very hard time with that, so I'm hoping you find some resolution soon.  Thinking of you!

No my MFM has never come talk to me.  When I was in L&D for preterm labor he refused to come talk to me.  He just said if I refused the catheter he wouldn't treat me.  I've told my OB that I don't like him and she was supposed to have me see the other one in the office, but its never happened.  After today I'm just done.  I'm requesting to switch to a different MFM office.  I ended up talking to a MW I used to work with and it means possible accreta.  The watch for IUGR, but they're already watching me for that so nothing changes.

@megs12914 thank you for the kind words.  I feel like a crazy person after my freak out today.  I'm exhausted.  I don't need this extra stress.

Wow, I don't blame you at all for wanting to switch.  And I say this as someone who typically does not care about doctors' bedside manner.  He seems like a total dick, and for an MFM who surely has some very worried patients, I can't believe he doesn't discuss what is going on with everyone.  Sorry you have to do this so late in the game, but hopefully the new MFM will be much better!
