Home from first trip to L&D

Well the last couple of days I haven't felt Baby move as much as normal, but have felt more contractions and outright pain (I'm 34 weeks).  And to top it off I hadn't felt well, just really off and weird.  The day before yesterday DH and I were up and out most of the day so I didn't worry too much, until I didn't feel as much yesterday and just contractions today, after next to no sleep.  So while in the shower this morning I hit my breaking point with my anxiety (poor DH had to get a crying, pregnant me out of the shower and calmed down).  So I called my OB and they sent me to L&D for monitoring.  

So they determined that I was contracting more than I should be and set out to figure out why.  So they hooked me up to an IV hoping the fluids would slow them down, but that didn't help.  So after almost three hours (I now that's not very long and I'm lucky for a short trip, but I was still worried most of the time), we figured out that it was just a UTI, which was causing the extra contractions.  So now I'm home, on a prescription, and my next appt has been moved up from Fri to Mon.  

So now I'm going to take a nap and keep myself as relaxed and calm as I can.  Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to keep you ladies updated, since I see you all as my besties now!  Thanks for the support!!!  Love you, ladies!!!!!

    Glad they figured out what caused the contractions. Rest up! Enjoy a movie or 5 ;) Maybe even see if your H will give you a foot rub.

    So glad it wasn't worse than a UTI! Hopefully you'll start feeling better! Keep us updated.

    I'm curious, what does "contracting more than you should be" mean exactly? Is there a quantification for this, and how do they determine it?

    I'm assuming that the baby is ok?

    My urinary symptoms definitely caused a ton of contractions. Hopefully once the infection clears up for you, you'll have far fewer contractions.

    @peanutmuse - All they told me was that I was contracting too much.  They didn't go into detail, just got the IV going.  

    They did an NST the whole time I was in, and everything with Baby looked just fine, which was a huge relief!  

    Now to wait and let the meds kick in.
