  My 18 month old is our first.  We're going a bit overboard this Christmas, because there are a lot of "staples" that we don't have, that we expect to get years of use out of - the play kitchen, an art easel etc.  However, next year we expect to start the "Want, Need, Wear, Read" tradition - I don't think it's necessary or even good to overwhelm children with a tsunami of presents at christmas or birthdays.

  Yeah, this is me, too. I fell like I've gotten way too much stuff already and there's still a few more practical things I'd like to get like table/chairs, step stool for bathroom, faucet extender, etc.

  Thanks everyone! Just thought I'd share that we found this cool horse  on sale at target and ended up getting it for her. She loves to rough-house and climb on and off of things so I think it'll be perfect!

  I got DS some wooden pull toys, a booster seat, stuffed animals, toy cars and trucks, foam bath letters. My mom got him a table and chair set. He's got so much crap that sings and lights up that I wanted him to have toys where he has to use his imagination and active play.
