Zantac keeping LO up?

LO had her Zantac dose increased a month ago and ever since she's not been sleeping as well. She used to take 2ml in the morning and the evening then she was switched to Prevacid in the morning and Zantac at night. She sleeps horriblily at night but the two times I didn't give her the Zantac she slept better... Yesterday I gave her the Zantac in the morning and Prevacid at night and she didnt nap all day until 3 when she was crying so hard and eventually crashed... Has anyone experianced Zantac keeping their LO up or seeing a sleep difference with it?

Re: Zantac keeping LO up?

  • Everett has been on Zantac for about 6 weeks now and if anything he sleeps a lot better now, though I suppose it's to be expected that a 14 week old sleeps better than an 8 week old.  2ml seems like a lot though, he only takes .08ml twice a day.

Why is she on two different meds?  Why not just Prevacid?  If she's doing better without the Zantac I would talk to your doctor about going without.

  • I'm not sure why he kept her on the Zantac. She is on the highest dose though. I could always back down her evening dose and see if that helps!
  • DS Is on Zantac and like PP said it actually helped him sleep better.  We are on a pretty high dosage like you said.  1.9mL twice a day.  He is almost out though and no refills = trip to the Pedi so we will see what happens then.  DS was in agony though prior to the Zantac when we would feed him or lay him down even on the wedge so the relief alone has helped him sleep better.
