Trying to Get Pregnant

If you've had anovulatory cycles...

How long do they usually last? I know irregular cycles happen and sometimes you just O late, but the longer I go without O, the more I wonder if I'm just not going to O at all this cycle. I just want to move on to the next one!

So is there a "normal" when it comes to anovulatory cycles?

Here's my ugly chart, in case anyone is interested in trying to make sense of it. Does this look anovulatory or like an "O any day now" chart (I know, I know...impossible to tell)?

Re: If you've had anovulatory cycles...

  • Sometimes ovulation happens very late... I've heard of CD 40, CD 60, etc. CD 29 doesn't mean you're not going to O at all. I usually O on CD 30 or later (I have PCOS though).

I had one anovulatory cycle that I know of. It lasted 122 days and ended with Provera. It's hard to really answer your question because it's different for every person, and it's different from cycle to cycle sometimes. I think all you can do is just wait it out. So far it doesn't look like you've ovulated, but there's no way to tell if/when it's going to happen.

  • I've only ever had anovulatory cycles! My body is a mess. Do you know how long your cycles "normally" are? I only see 2 months of charts for you. I know a lot of things can delay ovulation, so it still may happen.

  • @LindsRockies I'm not using OPKs, but I am thinking of going to get some. As you can see in this chart, we've been HIO almost every day for a week in hopes that I'll ovulate. And I'm TIRED. Maybe OPKs would let us take a break. :P

@runawaylaurel I'm not sure why more of my charts aren't showing up. I've been temping for over a year and started using FF actively this past April. There should be several charts there.

I typically O around CD20, and have a pretty average LP. So I'm just a week and a half "late", but it's really frustrating!!!

I know that feeling! I've had 2 back to back, 64 days and 89 days, both ended with Provera (for a total of 5 months out of 14.5 that I've been TTC...).

Like PP's said, you aren't out yet! You wouldn't be the first lady on here to O around CD30~

As you close in on CD60, make a doctor's appointment (you can always cancel). It's super frustrating to hit CD60 only to be told that the Dr. can't see you for another two weeks. Then it takes a while for the drugs to kick in and suddenly you're at 3 months with no AF.

  • I've had some weird, short ones and some weird long ones that ended with Provera and I stopped temping because I was so disgusted and frustrated.

One thing I did notice in the past with LONGER, but still ovulatory, cycle, was that my temps were bouncing pretty wildly at the beginning of the cycle, but then actually leveled off into my normal pre-O range for 7-10 days pre-O.

So, I don't think you are out yet and if you have a typical pre-O range- keep an eye out if your temps start to level out in that range and O may be around the corner.  Good luck!

  • I have annovulatory cycles. They usually lasted 50 days before break through bleeding. But everyone is different. Just keep temping til you get to cd 60 and of you haven't o'd call te doc and they can give you provera. Even people with regular cycles will occasionally have an annovulatory cycle, so unless you have regular annovulatory cycles I wouldn't worry too much!

  • According to my last two months of charts, they were both anovulatory, but still "normal" length of 28 days. I agree with PPs at least you may still be in the running to O sometime within this cycle. I think I get more bummed out that my cycle just ends at 28 days instead of going longer with the possibility of Oing.

  • Feel free to check out my previous charts. I have only O'd these past two cycles. I had long anovulatory cyclesfor the first 5-6 months of TTC. My charts looked a lot like yours. FX it's just late O for you and all will be good!

I never had a positive either. However, I had several times where I got crosshairs and then they were taken away a week or so later. And I had plenty of EWCM.

  • Thanks, I was curious because this cycle was very long for me (o at 29 days, usually 19-23). I got a positive opk but I am just starting the temping this month, so its all kind of new. I haven't gotten ewcm since august but have had + opk every month.

    BabyFruit Ticker

  • @Mego04 I had never gotten a truly positive OPK before these past two cycles, when temping confirmed O. However, I did get a blinking smiley on the clearblue OPK. Come to find out the freaking smiley never went away. Everytime I peed on that stick it would blink....I gave up and got cheapo Wondfos!
