I'm actually afraid to jinx it!
I've been trying to read the no cry solution book. The author suggests total darkness. I know this seems like a no brainer but I use to leave a VERY dim light near my bed on. This way I could check and feed lo easily. I've shut the light off the last two nights and he has only gotten up 2x from 6pm-6am which is huge for us. It's doable for me and lo is getting enough sleep.
Yesterday I had a follow up visit with the midwife who teaches responsive settling. I have not yet embarked on responsive settling. Anyway, she suggested pushing the feeds out so lo isn't eating every two hours. I believe this helped with his sleep last night. When he wakes up he is ravenous not just a comfort suck.
My DH wanted to try the responsive settling and the midwife said she would come back this afternoon to teach him. Funny that my little guy wouldn't sleep his predictable nap schedule so it was too late in the day for her to come. On top of that LO slept 2 hours and 45 when he finally napped which is the longest nap he ever took!!! He must have sensed the doom!
I just wanted to share. We still have a ways to go but these small things made a big difference for us. Hopefully it wasn't a fluke! Anyone want to add small things that have made a big difference?
Edit for spelling! Sorry about that
