Success after IF

Uterine Septum and Delivery

Hi Eveyrbody,

This past summer I had my uterine septum septated (I believe that's the correct term). Today, I am 8 weeks and graduating from the RE. However, right before I left the nurse freaked me out...she said I need to be my biggest advocate if I am having pain...specifically back pain around 16-22 weeks because it could be preterm labor. After spending some time reading about these correlations and weak cervix's I am a bit freaked out.

Any experience out there? Did you see a perinatologist along the way?

Re: Uterine Septum and Delivery

  • Hi I am a lurker, but I had a very uneventful pregnancy after my septum resection.  I never saw an MFM/perinatologist.  Did your surgeon mention how much was left, or how much of the septum they were able to resect? From my knowledge as long as most of the septum was resected, it stretches out with the rest of your uterus during pregnancy, at least according to my RE.

  • Thanks @royal15. From what I know it was all resected and on my follow up HSG in Sept. everything looked great. I am trying to just breathe but IF has definitely taken a toll on my brain. I am going to start with asking my new OB where the baby seems to be attaching because if it is not by where the septum was that will start to calm some nerves. I see him next week.

    Happy Holidays!

  • No experience with uterine septum septated but when I did go into labor at 31 weeks I did have only back labor. But it's so hard to tell because I feel like your uncomfortable through pregnancy to begin with. Maybe you should get hooked up with a hight risk doctor to monitor you? Congrats on your pregnancy!!

  • I don't have any experience with a uterine septum but an IRL friend had one resected and got pregnant through IVF 3 months later with twins.  She had no problems and delivered healthy twins at 37 weeks.  Good luck and congrats!
