DH traveling CD 10 to 13- IUI

I am so annoyed. DH and I both travel a lot for work. This month, he has to be in Europe from the morning of CD10 to the morning of CD13 (I'm on CD5 now). And he'll roll up super tired from the trip, I'm sure.

We are really hoping to do IUI this cycle, but the timing will be very tight.  Plus, on CD16 we leave for safari, so we basically have to hit CD14 or 15 or we switch to TI.

Has anyone had a one or two day window that they had to hit in order to do an IUI?

To put even more pressure on this cycle, we likely won't be able to try in Feb or Mar due to more travel. Shizah! Thanks for letting me vent.

Re: DH traveling CD 10 to 13- IUI

  • I am so sorry. I hope the travel doesn't mess this cycle up for you. That has happened to us a few times and we took those cycles off. I always seem to trigger on CD10 so I can predict if the timing for the IUI will work out before I start meds. Good luck!

  • Mh and I were on a very tight timeline with my 3rd IUI as mh was leaving for Malaysia. We managed to get it right on time, but considered freezing a sample as well. We didn't end up freezing and did the IUI the morning before his flight. GL!

  • And if it works out time wise, the safari should keep you plenty busy and distracted during your 2ww!

  • Aye that is tough! Because how do you know when you trigger? Are you doing stims?

    Married: 5/09 ~ TTC Since: 10/10 ~ PCOS ~ Progesterone from 10/10 - 2/11 ~ HSG on 3/18 - Clear ~ Started Metformin 1000mg & Clomid 50mg 2/11 ~ Metformin upped to 1500mg 4/6 ~ 6/7 Now going to SG and put on Clomid, Ovidrel, Gonal F, Prometrium, Estrace ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP!!!!!! March 6th our little man was born.

6/17/13 - Ovidrel, Follistim, Prometrium ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP! March 17th our St. Pattys day baby arrived

    10/29/17 - Started process for IVF, got pregnant & miscarried a 2nd time since summer. 2/22 started stims - Menopur, Gonal F, Cetrotide - retrieval 3/6 - , PIO, estrace 3xday - FET 4/18 = Beta 1: 616; Beta 2: 1342 = BFP

  • We had issues for 2 of my 6 IUI's because of DH traveling. We got lucky and squeezed them both in, but they did not result in a PG. Travel sucks somtimes, good luck!

  • Thanks, ladies.

I am using stims CD5 to 9 in addition to Letrozole CD4 to 7. I'm just hoping that I don't grow follies too quickly. Since this is my first IUI postpartum, we don't really know what my body will do on the meds.

If this cycle doesn't work, I'm considering freezing a sample for Feb so that I can cycle rather than breaking. There's only 1 clinic in Kenya that has the capacity to freeze sperm, so I'd have to switch RE's to do it, which is a pain.

I am excited for the safari which will be followed by a Christmas trip to the beach. And my little brother is visiting from the U.S., so all of those things should keep my mind partially occupied :)

  • Yeah with stims that makes the whole thing hard to tell. I switched stims drugs this time around but my days were actually exactly the same. 14 days of stims before I triggered. So it's so hard to plan around that. I really hope it works out before you trip. The trip is def great to make time pass fast while having fun
