Omg.. they didn't make it out their garage.. *heightens anxiety* this takes giving birth before getting to the hospital to a whole level. Major props to her, H, and mil.
Married October 2009. Me 29 H 28. After 1 year of infertility, our little miracle was conceived via our 3rd IUI on May 5, 2013. Holland Sophia was born Jan 24, 2014.
Wow....This almost happened to my mom with me.. I was 20 minute labor. She still doesn't know my dad got them to the hospital in time (it was 40 minutes away...he had to be speeding), but I was born on the floor of the ER (it was late at night and that was the only entrance) right in front of the doors.
My H told me he wants to catch the baby, so we have that in out birth plan.
Oh wow! It can definitely happen, my good friend in the UK ended up delivering her DD in her driveway! My first job out of college was a 911 operator. I ended up talking a couple dads through their babies deliveries at home and on the side of a major highway.
I saw the OP last night, it's unbelievable! I can't imagine DH staying calm enough to deliver the babies at home.
@ccip82 I think giving birth on your driveway is worse though. What a treat for the neighbours eyes!
She lives outside of Aberdeen in a rural area. She was very thankful that her driveway was enough off the main road that no one saw anything except her husband!!
This is where I feel all those years of playing catcher in softball will help me out lol I joke bu t I think DH woukd freak and then do whats needed given that situation.

MH would pass out if I even TOLD him this story. Maybe I need to keep my mom on call. My labor was less than 8 hours last time and my mom had fast labors. Gahhhhhh.
Whoa. DH could probably handle it, he doesn't want to see the 'business' end of birth but he's the kind of guy that can do anything. He would MacGyver it.
That is one crazy short labor! My husband used to be a medic and has delivered a couple babies himself, so delivering his own if he had to would not be a freak out to him.
I saw that a few days ago. No freaking way! That had to be terrifying for all involved, but their pic looks like it is a very happy ending and no medical intervention!!! Cute family.
I had a pretty quick first labor - had DD#1 3 hours after getting to the hospital/my water breaking. I live about 40 minutes from the hospital. Yep stories like this make me nervous!

Woah! Yep, count my DH among those who would NOT be able to handle this. Yikes!
We went to a childbirth class last week, and I asked the 20 year L&D nurse who taught it what the craziest birth story she's ever heard was, and it was a doozy:
She said she had one patient who had three babies, and ALL THREE were born at home on the toilet. This woman was a "freak of nature" who apparently just didn't experience contractions. Didn't feel a damn thing. All three babies, she woke up in the night with a strong urge to poop, assumed she just had to poop, and pushed a baby out into the toilet.
THREE TIMES this happened! If that were me, every single bowel movement I had in the later stages of pregnancy would be held in so I could go to the doctor first. Holy hell!!
