Cramping or early labor?

FTM here and not sure if in just cramping or having early labor? I'm 40+4 weeks and woke up a feel times to an intense lower "cramping" pelvic/vaginal area. No other signs such as stomach tightening, bloody show, or back pain; just the sporadic cramping. Usually last 20-45 secs. Haven't had any Braxton Hicks and last week at doctor's appointment I still hadn't dilated or effaced any. I have an appointment today but curious if anyone experienced anything similar? Hoping the little guy is FINALLY ready!

    Both of my labors started with cramping contractions that lasted for hours before any of the other symptoms arrived. Hope today is your day!

    I had about 24 hours of cramping after my cervix check, then strong braxton hicks like stomach tightening started after that before the intense painful contractions kicked in. Only time will tell for you! Good luck!

    I had irregular cramping the whole day before my last appointment at almost 39 weeks. Had a cervical exam the next day and had finally begun dilating. The doc said that was probably what caused my cramps. Had my bebe a week later. I think its just a sign that things are progressing :0) good luck.

    Doesn't matter what others have experienced. They are not you. Your labor will be different. No amount of others' stories will make their experience yours. Good luck, but cramping can be anything at this stage.

    You KNOW when they are the business. I had cramping for 6 weeks prior to delivery. Now thinking back on it the cramps are 100% different. Little cramps are prep-cramps. The real-deal will knock your socks off. Take a warm bath!
