Infertility

I guess this is an introduction...?

I'm not exactly sure I'm in the right place but hopefully someone will direct me if I'm not.

My husband had a vasectomy reversal last September and we have been trying since last October, so just over a year.  His sperm count continued to drop over the last year with the recent test being at zero.  His doctor referred us to an IVF doctor since we extracted his tissue at the time of the reversal and that was our next option.  Acutally, that was our only option with the frozen tissue.  We went to our first appointment last week and, even though I'm very excited, I'm also very overwhelmed with everything that is going on.  So much is happening all at once and I need somewhere to turn to where other people understand what I'm going through.  (I have very supportive friends and family but no one has ever gone through this)  The doctor called yesterday to tell me that I will start taking a thyroid medication due to my blood work coming back with high THS levels so I started that this morning.  I have an HSG test scheduled for Monday morning and then we attend a seminar in January and, from what I understand, will be starting injections after that.

So now that I've rambled for a bit...I hope I'm discussing this in the right section.  Please tell me if I'm not.  Also, what is the best way for me to become involved here?  I'm looking to gain support from others who have gone through or are going through this right now but I also want to be there for others as well.  I knew this whole process was going to be hard but I had no clue that I would turn into the emotional wreck that I am right now.

Re: I guess this is an introduction...?

  • Welcome but I'm so sorry you are here! You are definitely in the right place and I hope you will find the support and knowledge you need to help you through all this! These ladies are awesome and have been a great support system when no one else understands. IVF can definitely be overwhelming and seem like a whirl wind but you some how just manage. Like others have said, you should definitely join the January snowdrop check ins...those are all ladies who will be cycling in January and I believe there's also check ins for those individuals dealing with male fertility issues that you may also want to check out since they can all relate with what you are going through. Goodluck with everything!
2013- 2 IVF cycles with PGD to prevent genetic disorder from being passed on. Both BFFN :(
    2/2014 pregnant!  EDD 10/17/2014

    All always welcome! :)
