Lost Mucous Plug

I searched and didn't see anyone on this board mention it, but I def lost my mucous plug just now. I know it could regenerate and I know it could mean labor is still WEEKS away, but just wondering if anyone else had lost theirs or had prior experience losing it so soon. I'm about 32/33 weeks.

How do you know its your Mucus plus? Sorry I am a FTM so have no clue about a lot of things but even if it fit the description I would not jump to that conclusion that it certainly was that without getting checked and confirming with my OB/MW

I lost mine at 38 weeks with DD and still needed to be induced two weeks later.

Call your doctor. He/she can check your cervix to be safe.

@Hg45 I am a FTM too, but knew when I wiped there was something making the tissue glide a whole lot. Then finally it came onto the TP and looked like a giant booger or like I had hocked about 6 loogies into the tissue. (Sorry just trying to be as descriptive as possible) I also Googled it and all of the images looked just like it and the same amount. Some images showed bloody tinge which mine did not have. Just an off white, opaque, yellowy color. Like vaginal discharge but in a goop.

@Sweets11 I have a midwife appointment Thursday, so I emailed them to let them know but am not in panic mode so I think I'll be fine waiting for a cervical check until then. If they think I need one today or tomorrow, I know they'll contact me.

I lost mine a few times with my DS. It regenerated. I did go into PTL with DS at 32 weeks, but didn't lose the plug until I was on meds to stop contrax. I delivered at 38 wks.

It's good that you aren't panicking and that you contacted your provider. I have had discharge every once in awhile since the start of second trimester that is like you described- thick, yellow/white, and goopy. It also had no blood.

My provider seemed to think this was normal and when they checked my cervix there has been no dilation. They were not worried that I lost my mucus plug.

Fingers crossed that you get some answers.

Understood- I think as long as you consult with your provider it should be fine. You are so much more calmer..I would ave freaked even if I knew it was normal to lose the mucus plug. :-)

Yeah I figure if I freak out, it gets passed onto her which is the last thing I'd want to do. The only thing I get worried about is that it's a snowy mess outside and I'm flying solo and have a small little car. I've been worried about going into labor during a snowstorm, but it is what it is. I'm sure it's nothing and I'm sure I will be fine. The hospital is less than two miles away if I were to go into PTL so I'm sure I'd make it. If the baby wants to come, not much I can do about it except just go with it and trust the professionals

Just going to kick my feet up and relax.

Fwiw, I lost mine at 30w with DS and I was induced at 38 weeks for medical reasons. So I'm sure he would've baked longer.

You don't always lose your mucous plug at once. You could lose a big chunk and the rest of it slowly drain out of you over the course of 2 weeks or long. With DD1 It took a month for mine to completely come out and I still didn't go into labor till 2 days before her due date about 2-3 weeks after I stopped losing the plug. With DD2 I lost an extreme amount all at once so then a little over a week-2weeks and didn't go into labor till a month later.

My midwife called and said everything is fine since I'm not having any contractions or any other symptoms. She said she's not 100% convinced it was the MP and may have just been discharge. I haven't had ANY discharge like this, so I still think it was the MP or part of it, but all seems fine

I will have them check my cervix on Thursday.

I have not noticed mine yet, my sister lost hers early in her pregnancies and to be honest I'm kind of dreading this

it's like waiting for your period... I just know it'll come when I forget about it and I just don't wanna see goop come from there. > p
Having a baby different story!!! I'm completely excited for that!

Like some previous posters mentioned, I have some pretty big discharge goops from time to time.. I often wonder what the difference would be between a regular substantial glop of 3rd trimester discharge and the mucous plug itself, if there isn't any blood involved!

I lost my plug at 33 weeks with DD. I ended up having PTL 4 days later, but didn't deliver until 38 weeks. I'm fairly certain I lost a big chunk of mine a several weeks ago, but so far everything is good this time around. I think you're doing the right thing by not panicking!

I would never have posted a picture of something like that nor even taken a picture. I'm sure people don't want to see and if they do, there's plenty to go around on Google
