Car Seat Expiration

Okay, so BIL and SIL gave us their Britax Boulevard car seat that their DD used a few years ago.  I have searched that thing all over and there is no expiration date.  I found a manufacture date of 2008, but nothing else.  So is there a rule of thumb as to how long a car seat can be used if there is not expiration date stamped on it?  It wouldn't kill us not to use it, because we have two seats for our DD already, but I was just wondering.  TIA

  • If you decide not to use it when it is too old, save it for one of the trade in events at bru and get 25% off another baby item (booster, ect) or give it to someone pregnant to buy one of those bigger things. Yay good karma

I heard they weren't doing them anymore.

As a PSA, CSFTL advocates taking the car seat apart as much as possible when it is expired. Cut the straps, toss the padding separately from the seat, and write expired in large letters all over in marker.
