Ok- Who's not walking yet?

Ruby is going to be one tomorrow and she seems to have no interest in taking steps on her own. She walks great holding on to a push toy or holding our hands, but she has not taken an independent step yet. DD2 was walking on her own by 11 months....I know all babies develop differently- just wondering where other 12/12 babies are at :)

Re: Ok- Who's not walking yet?

  • same here baby is not walking yet but does well pushing toys aswell.... and stands by himself he has interest but is scared it seems... hes been walking on all fours lately.. my first walked at 13months

  • She's taken 3 or 4 steps in a row, but generally would prefer to crawl.  Her daycare teachers think that she knows that she can get there faster crawling than she could walking (at this point at least), so she chooses to do that instead.  The funny part is that she'll stand up to see more, and then drop and crawl like a man woman to get someplace.

  • DD1 didn't walk until she 13.5 months. They will get it soon and then they will be off and running!

  • No walking. I am very okay with this. I know he'll get there eventually.

  • Sam's not even standing alone yet. He has a giant head and it throws off his center of gravity, I guess? It's pretty funny. He's just getting good at cruising - and that's enough trouble for me to handle right now. Take your time little man!

I have a friend whose 17 month old just started walking. She pretty much took off running. Just took her time to start.

  • No walking here either, she just started cruising she stood maybe once or twice on her own for a few seconds but I'm not rushing it, she's into everything she can now...

  • Rory's not walking either. But I honestly believe that the reason with him is that he has no desire to walk, he'd much rather crawl. However my crazy child can do a somersault, he will bend himself over and kick his feet up and roll. LOL go figure.

  • Robbie's not walking yet either. He just started cruising on stuff this past week, and hasn't stood on his own yet either.  I don't think he has much of a desire to walk yet either, he's usually pretty content with crawling.

  • No walking here either and DS turned one on Saturday. He just perfected standing so I don't think it will happen for a while.

  • DD will do 5-10 steps on her own, but then drops down and crawls. She will stand up in the middle of the room a few times a day. Still seems to be perfectly content with crawling, which is fine by me!!
  • DD will take 5-8 steps then lunge into a crawl. She took her first steps at 10 months but it has been a slow progression but I notice her balance and walking getting better each day. However, now she is more interested in learning to climb stuff which is impossible to baby proof.

Seriously!  She is WAY more interested in climbing things than trying to walk :)

  • Sonja is not walking independently, either.  She cruises and can stand on her own, but she only does so periodically.  I'm in no rush for her to be walking.  She did master going up the stairs like greased lightening, though.

  • DD#2 is not walking either.  She will cruise and walk holding my hands, but otherwise would rather crawl.  If she finds herself standing without holding on, she immediately drops down to sit. She will do it when she is ready!  DS crawled from 8mo until 15 months before he finally started walking.  DD#1 didn't even crawl or really roll much until after 11 months.  Then she was walking at 13 months, and pretty much running at 15 months.
