Synagis advise please

For all you ladies experienced with Synagis, advice please.

Our LO is due (28 days) for his 3rd shot on Dec 11. That would put him due for his 4th shot around Jan 8.

We have to move (military) on Jan 2 and will not arrive to our new location until Jan 6. Once we get there, DH has to inprocess, update paperwork, etc.... In other words, we won't be able to be seen by a doctor until about Jan 8-ish and they're telling me that we have to come in and be seen as a new patient then they will order the shot. Then we have to come back in a week to administer it. This is a military doctor, our only option.

So my question is ... Would I be better off to delay the Dec shot where we will he at home with no stress and germs? Or leave it as is and have the Jan shot be delayed? I'm just thinking with all the added stress of moving, germs, etc.... Maybe it would be better to delay Dec?

I haven't approached my pedi about it yet. We haven't had the best luck with them from the get go about scheduling.

    From what I have researched and been told the first 2 shots are the most important to be on time. I can't recall why since it's an antibody shot but I do remember that. And we were told a 28-35 day window so what if you pushed December back a bit to accommodate January being out a little bit. Does that make sense? Goodluck!

    Yeah that's what I'm thinking might be best. To delay the December shot by a few days in order to hopefully be able to get the January shot on time.

    I'll contact our pedi office on Monday to see if its possible. So far we haven't had great luck with scheduling. They changed our last appt for Synagis three times. Grrrr!

    Good to know the first two are most important. I don't really understand the idea of antibodies either.

    So ... I finally heard back from the one lady that schedules all Synagis vaccinations and she tells me they are only having one clinic next month, on dec 11. How can that be? I highly doubt that it just so happens to work out that every single baby falls into the 28-30 day window on dec 11. I'm kind of glad we are moving so I don't have to deal with her anymore. Ugh. Rant over.

    We have a clinic where we live but they start a certain tin each month and only go for about a week. My guess is that if you don't come in withing that window your SOL. This way it keeps people on a similar window. We have a nurse come to our home. We lucked out.

    Our new pedi tells me they can do them anytime. We just come in a week before the shot is due to get weighed so they can order the proper dosage then come back to administer. They reweigh the day of to make sure they have the correct amount. It sounds like a great plan to me. I don't understand why others can't follow suit. I think they should be able to give the shot when it's due. :-)

    Holy cow!!!! I just got the EOB from our insurance company and they charged them $7406.05 per shot. OMG! I thought I had heard somewhere they were about $1500/shot. Obviously they didn't get paid that much but they got way more than $1500. I called them because I thought they must have billed for all 5 shot. Man, was I shocked when they said that was just one. Whoo, I'm sure glad we have insurance.

    That's nuts! I mean, I guess it's well worth it as long as he doesn't get sick but man oh man. Ha, I thought $1500 was a lot.
