I'm wondering if I'm the only non-coffee drinking adult! I drink Lipton tea with sweetener (I know, bad) and lots of Diet Coke (also really bad). I'm not the type that has to have caffeine right away in the morning, but usually around 11 a.m. I'll be wanting something. I gave it up totally while pregnant and while breastfeeding, but I'm back to my usual addiction again!
DH HATES coffee, but loves tea- iced, hot, chai lattes. I LOVE coffee but hate tea. ha.
As for soda- we drink seltzer (we just got a soda stream and it's awesome!!) We have a "no pay for soda rule" - we won't pay for it but if it's free like at a work lunch or at a friends, then it's okay. (unless we're having people over then we'll buy it- which is rare)
I never drank coffee before Emma started teething, before the smell made me nauseated. I don't have a coffee maker at home yet (getting a keurig for Christmas). So, right now I only have the occasional dunkin seasonal mocha latte maybe 1-2x a week. I can't start the day without a cup of lipton hot tea with 2 spoonfuls of sugar though!
Also- my mom owns a tea/coffee business- and she hates coffee and only likes iced tea (not hot). But she knows more about coffee than many coffee drinkers. Some people have no idea what they like, while others are VERY exact.
I love coffee especially with Pumpkin Spice or Peppermint Mocha coffee creamer. I get so excited around the holidays and buy my creamer in bulk. I usually have a cup in the morning and then drink Dt Coke or Dr Pepper throughout the day. I do drink way to much soda but I always have water after the soda to help break things up. I actually cut back on my caffeine intake while pregnant but that didn't last very long afterwards.
During the week, DH and I both start the day with 2-3 cups at home and then have at least 1- 2 cups (Starbucks, Wawa etc). On weekends we drink at least 3 pots a day.
My new favorite drink is Starbucks triple espresso over ice
I am a drinker but not with an exclamation mark. I really like the smell and taste of good coffee, but I only drink it once or twice a week. I take my tea quite seriously (ha!) but I don't need the caffeine. I'll drink it because I enjoy it, and I try to limit caffeine. If it weren't for the caffeine, I'd have a pot of tea or coffee going all day.
To those who don't drink coffee: I'm sorry you're broken.
Why? It's not even good for you.
Coffee in moderation actually is good for you.
Not that I drink it in moderation....
I think I just don't ever see anyone drink coffee in moderation. My MIL for instance literally can not function without drinking coffee all effing day. She's clearly addicted, it's like crack to her. It's the opposite of sane... But anyone I know who drinks that much coffee is a little... off. And constantly jittery. Just my experience.
Coffee does not make me jittery, ever.
I typically drink one cup a day, rarely two.
I think the example you are giving is the exception, not the rule.
Gotcha. I just pictured the case of my MIL for you since you said it keeps you sane. I didn't picture only 1 cup keeping one sane, but like I said, it's just because people I've seen that use coffee to keep them sane drink several cups a day. Different strokes for different folks.
