Baby stockings

The thread "How many gifts" got me thinking about baby's Christmas stockings. I am at a loss as to what to put in one! We usually do stuff like candy, gum, nice body wash, etc. for adults, and obviously none of that works for a baby! I have one little toy (a Sassy toy phone) that I plan to put in LO's stocking. I can't think of anything else. So what are you ladies putting in baby's stocking?

  • We won't start with stockings this year for LO, but she's our first so there's not another stocking being stuffed for another LO.  When we have LO#2 (in a year or two) we'll get matchy keepsake type stockings that will be forever stockings for the whole family.

But I wouldn't have a clue what to put in a stocking for a 6 month old...

For husband I'll put gift cards and candy in his. Typically that's what he puts in mine. We're funny, I buy candy for him I would want and he buys candy for me that he would want and we both get busted eating each other's candy each year lol.
  • I have a ball with a rattle in it...that's probably it for her stocking. Maybe I'll add some baby food?

Interesting how differently people do things.  @CL8badB you did your stockings last?  We always did ours first!  And @phishgirl29 you didn't get stockings even as a kid?  DH and I have a big difference - "Santa" always wrapped his stocking stuffers.  My "Santa" said fuck that and I take after that Santa lol

We do our stockings first. Our Santa gifts are never wrapped. Our Santa gifts are like our big gifts too.

  • So far all I've got in stockings is mittens for both my LO and my niece. My niece also has a pair of slippers that I got for her. That's all I'll get for my niece for her stocking since her dad and my parents will also put stuff in there. For LO I plan on getting an infant toothbrush, more binkies, and I got a bunch of the crawler snack things at my baby shower so I might wrap one of those up to stick in there. He'll like the noise it makes when he shakes it up!

  • I always thought that the number of stockings hung would "tell" Santa how many people to leave presents for.

  • A's stocking currently contains a cereal packet, socks, a mesh feeder and it was going to have her links, but they didn't fit.

  • My babies are getting those puff treats in their stockings. The ones that come in a tall canister. I figure that will fill most of the stocking.

  • @Funkyphoenix we have that remote and it is a big hit!
  • We rarely buy gifts just for the stocking. On Xmas eve, small presents usually go in. If it fits, that's where we put it instead of under the tree.

  • We did sippy cups, spoons, and a teether book for DD.

I said did because DH grew up using their stockings for Saint Nicks Day (Dec 6) instead of for Santa.  Basically you put your Christmas list in the stocking and St Nick leaves behind a small gift.  DH family also did necessities for these gifts - like DS got socks, underwear and a Christmas cup with silly straw.

Growing up my family did St Nicks Day too but left a shoe outside our room where we got a small gift and candy.  Then Santa left unwrapped small gifts in our stockings - CDs, movies, lipgloss.  I have incorporated the majority of my family's Christmas traditions into ours so I let him keep this one ;)

  • We do stockings for st nick, I gave LO a book, a rattle, diaper cream (lol), a plush toy, and a teething ring. It was all stuff we already had, she loved the plush toy :)
