Well I had a lovely morning. After slipping UP the stairs outside carrying my tiny dog, scraping both legs and almost crushing her, then there was an accident on my way to work so I was detoured and got into work even later than I thought I would.
I have my GD 1 hour test today and it's not until 3:30. I grabbed a raspberry greek yogurt out of the fridge and just read it has 19g of sugar. So now I am going to have to go downstairs and get something.....other than hard boiled eggs, WHAT CAN I EAT??? Ugh. And I can't even have any coffee. This day sucks already and it's only 9:18AM.
Re: What should I have for breakfast?
Plus your body should process any breakfast WELL before your appt. same for lunch if you eat around noon.
Whatever you want....if there were restriction they would have told you. The GD test measures how your body reacts to the sugar in your system, not how much sugar is in it. Besides, I test my BS two hours after a meal, and then I eat a snack....so even if you ate too much sugar for breakfast somehow, it would not be a factor for a test at 3:30 pm.
Yogurt is fine....and if you're really worried, I am alloted 30 grams of carbs for breakfast, 19 is low even for a diabetic.

Then I'm sorry but whoever told you that kind of sounds like an idiot. What does that mean? No cookies? No milk? Almost everything has at least a couple of grams of carbs. Even diabetics NEED carbs, just not a lot. Don't eat cake, ice cream and french toast with syrup and powdered sugar, but I assure you if you eat normal food with some carbs in them, you won't fail the test because of that. And if you were to fail the one hour because it's got less strict parameters, that is what the 3 hour is for. Just eat normally and up your protein if you're worried.

I won't have coffee cause black coffee is nasty to me and I need sugar (truvia) in it. I'm sure I'll be fine without the coffee though. I just want it and hope I don't get a headache.
