I've never been one to get the flu shot myself but I'm starting to consider if it's necessary for dd... (Yes I will be talking it over with her pediatrician and doing more research... I also don't want to start a debate on vaccinations). I'm just really curious if other moms do or don't have their kids get a flu shot?? And what their experiences were - any side effects? Did they get the flu in spite of the shot? Stuff like that... What are your thoughts mommas?

I never got one until my work offered them free and then I was pregnant and had little babies. But the kids have always gotten them. Flu can be serious (esp. in little kids), so I'd rather try to prevent.
No noticeable side effects for any of us, and none of us have gotten the flu after getting the shot, though it is possible to catch a strain that wasn't in the vaccine.
Emailed doctor and he isn't insisting on it based on the fact that we tend to stay home. He was more concerned about the germs she would be exposed to by coming into the drs office just for the shot...
