We've got Molly for a girl and John for a boy. Not sure if we want to do middle names. I'd like to hear what a bunch of internet strangers think of our choice, so fire away!
They're good names. I'm a Molly and never had any issues with my name, though I don't love it (the meaning is 'bitter'). I definitely think an interesting or unique middle name would spruce them both up.
I used to joke if I had kids I'd name them Jane and John, that I'd redefine different by being the seemingly only one to bring back these classics. Love John. Love Molly. And as PP said, they need MNs, maybe family ones?, to assist with identity verification (funny reason to need a name, but I think it's a valid point)
I appreciate your feedback (and not just because you are saying exactly what I was hoping for!).
We have been thinking of middle names. My father's name is Wladimir which we think sounds pretty cool for a middle name but maybe that's too crazy. Girls' middle names in my family would be Nicola, Allison or June.
Love John Wladimir. I love the idea o a first born son having his maternal grandfather's name as a MN, because the LN is the dad's and his dad's.
I say use the female MN of the woman in your family you most want to honor. You won't be saying them together regularly, and you were about to not do a MN anyway so what appears most important to you is who you want to honor, not how it sounds.
I love them both. John was one of our finalists for DS. It's DH's grandfather's name and his MN is his mothers (DH's great-grandmother's) maiden name. His MN in any case was going to be my maiden name. We know a lot of Johns our age, but it is much less common now than it used to be.

No, not really. I love John for a boy.
I like Molly as a NN for either Mary or Margaret as opposed to a stand alone name-- that's my only criticisim.
