Welp--That is one thing we save money on! I have about 10 million photos of my son and he is only 16 months Ok that's an exaggeration. Anyway, fellow photogs, post your websites, I would love to look at your work!
Hey! My website is www.jetadorephotography.com but Facebook ( www.facebook.com/jetadorephotography )has most recent stuff bc I'm awful at blogging and updating my work! Lol I work a full time job and do my photography part time I can't wait to check our both of your work!! Are you on Instagram? I would love to follow you guys there too!
I just do photography part-time (and it has not been much at all lately- feeling to lousy to really plug business), but I love networking with other photographers! You have gorgeous pages! Here is my blog:
Ah, a lot of portraitists out there! That was never my strong suit. Of course, all I find myself taking photos of lately is my DD, so maybe that'll change

you ladies are some talented photographers! I'm super impressed.
I am an amateur who is interested in taking nice photos and I have a fairly nice camera (Canon 60D). Do any of you have a rec on a next-step, good, non-prime lens. Mainly wanting to take pics of people (and future baby come June). I have an old kit lens (18-55), a cheapo zoom (70-300, f/4-5.6), the awesomely cheap nifty fifty (f/1.8).
I was thinking of a major upgrade to the canon 24-70 (f/2.8) but it's crazy expensive. Anyone who owns it, is it worth it? Is there another lens that you'd consider getting next?

I have a 60D too and that is my dream lens. I have a few photographer friends who have it, and I love it. The 24-104 is cheaper, but a higher f stop. I think if you get a different brand, like Sigma, you may save some money, but I don't know if the quality is the same. I pretty much shoot exclusively with my 50mm :-)

Thank you! I guess I just feel that my work tends to be a little darker and less shiny happy people. I tend to shoot more documentary style and stay away from poses, so when my friends ask for nice, bright, posed shots, my mind goes blank. I really envy those of you who make it all seem so natural!
For the record, I shoot Pentax - I love their small prime lenses!
I'm one! Don't have a website though. I'm soself cconscious about my stuff.
Everyone is self-concious once and a while---you gotta start somewhere. There is always going to be someone better than you---you just have to use that to inspire you to get better rather than becoming discouraged and giving up.

@aesimp Just curious---are you afraid of prime? I was at first because I liked the flexibily of zoom BUT prime lenses really are amazing as far as clarity goes--plus you get more exercise because you have to move your body .
But back to your question---are you looking for an L series lens rec or just regular?
Loved your website @Jesus4life2 looked at it a few days ago.
My website is www.jennipherwatsonphotography.com
We also have a FB page but I'm unsure how to tag it...
@LoHerrim thanks! So jealous of your shooting location---"High desert" sounds fun and exotic. haha
I'm not, but my husband is a hobby photographer (just travel pics from our vacations). His website is philrussellphotography.com (I'll take this down in a bit). He used to have a lot more pics on there but I think he's working on redoing everything so there's only a couple.

jesus4life2 I'm not afraid of prime I just feel like I need a "workhorse" lens so I'm not hauling around 3 or 4 lenses for every occasion. I almost exclusively use my little 50mm prime and love it. I think it's a great portrait lens (it's effectively like 80mm since my camera doesn't have a full sized sensor) but I do often find it's too zoomy for stuff. I'd rather not be stuck with JUST a wide angle lens. Anyway, long story short, looking for a high quality, really sharp, everything lens.
Oh, and I'd love an L-series but it's so highly dependent on the price. Because I'm not making any money off my photos it's a little hard to justify the crazy expensive lenses. BUT because I haven't spent any real money on my photography (besides the camera body) I'm wiling to invest in something that will get a lot of use.
How fun! I do photography on the side. Here's my site: www.shelley-nicole-photography.com. I have to admit, I haven't updated in forever! Look forward to checking out everybody else's work when I have some time! I'm sure all you ladies are uber-talented!

I can't tell you HOW amazing and worth the 24-70 2.8 is. Have you tried renting it to see if you love it? I usually try to rent an expensive lens before making the big jump to purchase it, but I can pretty much guarantee that you will not regret it!!
I wonder why? We're on FB too but I can't figure out how to link it. If you search for Jennipher Watson Photography it should come up. My partner spells her name weird haha.
Eta: love your site!
Oh, I was able to find your Facebook! That worked! For some reason, the website just wouldn't load.
Here's mine. Still working to get everything up and better categorized. This is part time for me www.buzphoto.com
Wow, I love your site! Is it completely wordpress? I used that for years and just switched to Koken but I miss the ease of wordpress.
aravis121 - Yes, it's completely wordpress and so easy to use. I can add new galleries in minutes and create private galleries for client viewing/ordering as well.

you sound a lot like me! i'm also a hobbyist and until last year used the nifty fifty exclusively. got the tamron 28-75/2.8 and it is AMAZING. i never use the 50mm anymore. it is so crisp. read the reviews, they are impressive and many compare it to the canon L series equivalent.
