Help with Vitamin D drops!

My DD is EBF. We were told at her 1 week appointment to start her on vitamin d drops. She took it fine the first day or so but now she just lets it dribble out of her mouth! I haven't pumped or introduced a bottle yet, and don't plan on it anytime soon. Does anyone have advice on how I can get my LO to swallow these drops?

  • My sister used to put the drop directly on her nipple and let LO suck it off as he latched.

  • When I squirted it in I would give very little at a time. Helped with swallowing.

  • Thank you ladies!! I have been using the Tri Vi Sol because that was the only brand the local pharmacy carried! I had no idea there were other options!! I'll be looking into the one droppers!

  • I use d drops brand. One little drop a day

  • When I give it to my baby, I do it when she's lying down, and I put the dropper far back in her cheek, and do a little at a time.  She still dribbles some of it out, but most of it goes down.  Initially our doctor suggested doing it in half doses, twice a day, and that worked too.

  • Take a bottle nipple, squeeze the 1ml into it and let her suck it down, did a world of difference for me!
