Tell me about your high chair

I have yet to buy one and would like some ideas before I go check them out at BRU or on craigs. We have a counter height table, too, so if any of you have one of those and could give me a frame of reference height-wise that would be great.

Re: Tell me about your high chair

  • Love, love, love our Stokke Tripp Trapp.  It's more expensive than your avg. high chair, yes, but we will only ever need one, it's super easy to clean, EF, and will grow with us even when all the kids are beyond high chairs and booster seats.  It's truly an investment, and it's beautiful.  We have a really fun bright orange, but they also have lots of diff. wood stains to match your furniture.  If you can find one used, you'd be in great shape.  They really don't show wear very much since they are very basic and easy to clean.

I love that K comes right up to the table in it.

  • Mine's the ultimate in recycling.  My FIL found it in an alley behind a taco restaurant in Oklahoma and had it totally cleaned up.  I was scared at first, but it's totally cute!  Doesn't help you much, though, unless you have time to scour back-alleys.

  • i have the cheapie from ikea. i really wantd the one mrs. donkey has but not in our budget. we were thinking about the chair that attaches to the table, but we don't sit at the table enough & i'm not sure how long it would hold up since dd is so big already!
  • oh - the thing that is great about our ikea one is that i can lift it with one hand - and it comes apart so easily that we can take it with us when we need.
  • we don't like our fisher price space saver HC b/c the table is hard to slide on and it's kind of small for our big baby.  we will probably have to buy a different one when he grows a bit more.

  • We have the FP Space Saver and love it! It fits perfectly on our chair and slides right up to the table.
  • We have the Chicco Polly highchair and we love it. It cleans up really easily (and ds tests that daily) and it has two trays so that when I have a rough morning and suddenly find that it's lunch time and the one tray is still a mess,l I can pop the other one on and clean the first while ds is noshing.

It rated well in Baby Bargains though I can't remember why but it's pretty sturdy and I like that it's not too 'kiddy' looking since we leave ours out in the dining room.

  • We have the FP Space Saver as well and we'ce been using it for well over a year (DS will be 18 months on Xmas Day). At $35, I really don't think it can be beat. It just attaches right to your table chair (so no need to worry about the height of your table) and we put a beach towel under ours just to make sure we don't get an scratches on the chair. The seat cover wipes up easily, yet about every two weeks, I pull the whole thing off and throw it in the washing machine. Also, our tray works perfectly. I just take the whole thinkg off at the end of each feeding, slide the leftovers in the trashcan, and either rinse in the sink or throw in the dishwasher if we're running a load before the next meal.

We actually have a brand new Graco high chair in the basement for the second baby, but we already decided we wanted to get another Space Saver. So easy.
