March 2014 Moms

Yes I'm pregnant and yes I'm Due in march!

I'm small frame and I'm all belly I think the 15 -18 pounds I've put on have been centered on my baby belly. I'm sick and tired of complete strangers (patients) tell me how enormous I am. I had someone ask me if I was having a christmas baby! Lol I laugh it off and then say no I'm due in march late march actually and see their eyes almost bust out their eyes. I think next time someone tells me " any day now huh" I'm going to say yes and just stay quiet until march and have them think I have been pregnant for over a year. That ought show them. Rant over!

  • I get that reaction nearly every day at yoga classes. (I am consistently measuring 4+ weeks ahead by fundal height.) I think most people don't really have any frame of reference to know how big women can get in pregnancy.

  • You are not alone at all!! Just know that. I would as a nurse and between my patients and the employees I am over being told wow you have that much longer your big!!
  • Same here!  I'm barely 5'2 and very petite in general.  This baby has nowhere to go but out!  Luckily haven't had too many comments about it, but luckily it's mostly all belly.  I can only imagine how big I'll be near the end.  At that point I may go into hiding.

  • I live in miami and I'm Hispanic and let me tell you Hispanic women (older) have no filter lol! It's so bad lol even if you aren't pregnant they will let you know if you put on weight lol. One told me I'm going to roll out of here come march %-( . Whatever as long as a my baby is fine and growing I try to put it behind me. Just gotta keep oiling up and buttering up my enormous bump and keep it moving!
  • I've been telling people I'm due in February because I got tired of seeing their reactions to my "March" answer.
Haha I've been doing the same! :) Yesterday morning in yoga class a chick next to me asked, and I've reverted to the vague answer, "Oh, I still have a couple more months left." Which also elicits wide-eye responses. Hmpf. If only they knew I'm not due for 12 more weeks.

  • Aaahhhhh me tooooooooo.

I'm 5'4" and short-torsoed and there is just nowhere else for this kid to go. I should just start saying, "oh, a few more weeks yet....."

  • Every time I read something like this I think of the scene from Knocked Up when she's interviewing stars on the red carpet, she's got two months left and everyone is like "wow are you going to deliver right here"?

She looks like she's about one second away from ripping everyone's head off.  I'll admit I may have thought this to myself about a pregnant woman before, shocked that she's still got several months to go, but I would never ever ever say anything about a woman's size to her, it's so beyond rude.

  • I'm 5'6 with a fairly average frame and have absolutely no idea where my baby is hiding in me because I don't look pregnant - just like I've gained a few pounds.  A few weeks ago I was waiting in line in a public restroom and when a stall opened the woman behind me (the only other person in line) bolted around of me and said "sorry, I'm pregnant and I can't wait".  I was pretty shocked that anyone would be so rude and that apparently I don't even look questionably pregnant or she wouldn't have used that excuse.
  • I get that reaction all the time too. Granted I am measuring way ahead and my stomach is bigger than normal because of the excessive fluid, so I can't blame them too much. Then randomly I get the people who talk about how tiny I am. I just laugh b/c no one has any idea in the end.
  • I FEEL you. I'm 5'2 and literally went from barely any bump to big 'ol bump in the past few weeks. I'm also a nurse and If I get one more comment from co-workers I'm going to scream. "Oh you're REALLY showing now" etc, etc. I think because my bump appeared so suddenly, people feel the need to point out that I'm finally "showing". Yes, I realize I'm showing. I'm 25 weeks pregnant people. Also, I feel like my scrubs hide A LOT. If these people could see me at home, they'd really have a lot to say.

  • I kinda think that people (even ones who should know better) don't really know what 40 weeks pregnant looks like.

When you watch mainstream media portrayals of women about to go into labor, they often look like what many women actually look like at about 28 weeks. And since the actresses are not themselves (usually) pregnant, there's no weight gain in their faces, etc. Or look at the maternity models on say gap.com. I would venture to guess that most of those women are not 37 weeks +.

And even though I should most certainly know better, I don't. If you asked me to draw the silhouette of what I think I looked like when I went into labor last time, I think I'd draw something closer to what I look like now. I just can't even fathom a third tri belly, even though I had one not that long ago!
  • OMG SAME THING HERE.

The SAME person keeps saying this to me at work! (See my vent in the Monday bitchfest)

I am 5'3", with a very short torso. Where do these people want my baby to go-- out my spine??!
I'm the same height..I have a short torso as well.  I'm with ya!  People need to back the hell off!

  • I've also been getting a lot of this. Even BEFORE we were telling people.. at 2 1/2 MONTHS some of my regular customers out of the blue asked "so how far along are you... 4...5 months?" My jaw dropped. I'm 5'4 and have a petite/regular frame. When I told them that they told me that I would be huge. Thanks?
    People cray.

  • UGH so other people are going through this! At Thankgiving, my two aunts could not stop commenting on how BIG I am, and "you have three months to go" - ???? My first was 8lb9oz... I apparently have bigger babies, but I dont think I am too large for where I am at. I am over half done. Seriously!   I am tall and thin, so my bump really shows up maybe? She commented that I am larger than my cousin who is due in 6 weeks...well she is also short and overweight and everyone carries differently. It's refreshing to see that I am not the only one!! :)

BUT then other people (some at work), think I am not that big. Maybe it depends on what I wear.

  • Like PP, I'm short and have a short torso as well. I worked in a different area of the hospital recently and while in a dark patient room, the nurse said "I didn't see your belly at first, but how could I miss it!!!" I just laughed it off and then she asked the golden question of due date and when I said march, "oh wow, you look a lot farther along than that!" I could have punched her. I hope my death glare was enough.

  • I have the opposite problem. People ask me if I'm sure I'm pregnant. Maybe I'm actually due in June or July? Then they suggest that I'm somehow starving my baby just because I have a different body type. Moral of the story: it's rude to comment on anybody's weight/body.
Same here! I could've gotten away with not telling anyone until a couple weeks ago when I popped (around 25 weeks). Now no one believes that I only have 12 weeks left or that I'm gaining enough weight/the baby isn't growing enough. Thanks- that's exactly what I want to hear- that you don't think my baby is healthy!

  • Same here!! 5'2" with a short torso and everyday someone comments. Mostly my patients. Annoying!! I like that they acknowledge the baby. But I don't like being told I'm gigantic! Haha oh well

  • "This is what due on March 27th 2014 looks like b*tches!!" Is all I wanna say. Yesterday at the gym this woman was like "You're the cutest pregnant lady I've ever saw!" I'm thinking "that's sweet". Then she went on to ask my due date and everything went downhill from there.... "That's a big baby!" & "don't tell me it's your first!?" to "you're going to be huge!".

Yeah I pretty much look like that also! I think we look great lol I'm due march 25!
  • I agree with the pp that said ppl dont realise how close we are to march/feb. I mean, everyone is thinking about Christmas and then the new year- there is so much happening at this time of year.
I'm due at the end of feb, I have to get thru
    School reports,
    End of school year
    Christmas
    New Years
    DS's bday
    DS's first day at school
And then I still have a month to go!
This is why it seems like forever to me!
And also half my bump is excess weight. Sad, but true. Unlike the pp who posted a pic of her bump-
    LOOKING ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!
  • I totally understand. I get asked all the time "you sure you're not having twins". Or that I'm going to pop any day now. I love it when people say there's no way you're making it until March, that makes me want to just slap people. I get asked are you sure you're not farther along than you think. Well since I was getting tested for infertility in June and ovulated in June, I'm going with that's the month I got pregnant.
  • People are totally annoying!  For us, it's pretty obvious that all pregnant women look different.  I know we have a 4-5 week range for the month, but when you look at our HDBD pics there is a such a variety of "looks" - we all carry differently and show differently!

When I was pregnant with DD, I was told by two different people on the same day that I was big and small :\  I mostly tune people out, most of the people I see in day-to-day life either say nothing at all or just say I look great...which is all I want to hear :)

  • Ughh I know! I just told my husband yesterday I don't feel like a cute little pregnant lady anymore because of all the "wow you're getting so big to still have so far to go" comments! I'm short also, so yeah my baby has nowhere to go but out! People really know how to make you feel great about yourself!
