Nurseries and Baby Gear

Worst baby product ever? You decide.

Fisher Price just came out with a new bouncer.  It has an iPad attachment.
I vote worst.  No baby needs to be stimulated with an iPad.  It is way too much!  Shame on Fisher price.

  • I'm not nearly as horrified as I assume I am expected to me. It wouldn't be on my to buy list, but I can guarantee it will sell to plenty of people out there. I'd venture to guess more people than would like to admit sit their kids in front of the tv to do a load of laundry or use the restroom. This is pretty much the same thing and really doesn't blow my mind if used sparingly. Still, I can see why people would feel it was encouraging constant use which isn't good.

  • ugh - that's almost as bad as our friends putting their 2 month old in front of the tv to watch cartoons.
  • This just made me laugh :))  I guess they want to start the next generation off early with electronics! WOW!
From every baby I've seen growing up, they would never focus on a screen but with the people around them and REAL baby toys! Why invent this!?

  • Wasn't there some kind of training potty with a similar attachment recently? Yeesh.

  • Doesn't seem that horrible to me.
  • Infants are very easily over stimulated...strapping them down a few inches from a device meant to have video and sound is just not appropriate.  We as adult have the knowledge and physical ability to get up and leave a room when over stimulated, so we can seek quiet and calm.  Infants do not.  The infants have no way to get away from the constant stimuli with this device.

  • Honestly, this is pretty disgusting. There is quite a bit of research that shows that kids should not have any screen time until 2. These bouncers are meant for kids under 4-5 months. There is no need for them to be "entertained" in this fashion. This is pretty disgusting.

I don't think many people would pay $100 for something they plan to use sparingly.

  • That's pretty creepy. I don't like how the ipad is so inescapably in the baby's face!!

I mean use the bouncer regularly and the ipad attachment sparingly.
  • I hate fisher price anyway. This barely surprises me, coming from them.

As for worst baby gear, I was going to vote for any of the baby food makers. Completely unnecessary and used for such a short period of time you'd be better off buying packets if you didn't want to steam and blend fresh food.
  • no no no no no no no no no no no .... just... scary!
