What are you getting for your parents and/or your ILs if you get them Christmas presents? I need some inspiration. We have a $50 per couple limit for DH's family.
My brother and I went in on a blue ray player that streams Netflix and a 3 month Netflix streaming subscription for my parents , came out to exactly $50 each. My DH takes care if his parents. He got his mom an artistic print he did of DD and a woodworking book for his dad, and a restaurant gift card for both.
I got my fiances mom a new crock pot (she been hinting at a new one) and a UK wildcats half-zip fleece for his dad since we live smack dab in the middle of Big Blue Nation.

So far I've made canned apple pie filling for the moms, and was thinking of doing a handprint ornament keepsake for them again from our DD. Our budget is pretty tight this year, but I'm trying to figure out what else to do..
This year my siblings and I are going to get our mom a new tv. Nothing crazy but she desperately needs a new one! I got my dad the Breaking Bad series DVDs,!as he mentioned he wanted them months ago and is notoriously difficult to shop for! DH and I don't exchange gifts with his side of the family, so that's always nice.
There is a dairy on campus that is delicious. We're getting the in-laws and my parents a cheese sampler and an ice cream sampler. My dad also asks us to donate to charities instead of buying them gifts so we will be doing that on behalf of both parents.
My dad will get some guitar accessories. My mom got a gazing ball stand for her gazing ball I got her for her birthday last year.
DH's dad will get tickets to a hockey game and his mom will get a cutting board (I'll lie and say I made it...lol), cheese spreader knife, homemade bread (which I will bake), and some jam or honey from the local farmer's market.
The most I spent was for my mom's gift (which was $25).
I love giving gifts but I hate tying to figure out what to get. My DF just graduated from Medical School in May so for his parents we are doing a shadow box with his diploma, tassle, and grad pic. My mom asked for a tea kettle. The one she wanted was $10 at walmart so I want to give her something else that is a little more special as well. Step dad and dad usually get new button up shirts. Step mom will prolly get a new shirt or something. who knows
For my mom I'm upgrading some of her tired/worn out baking supplies. New gold cookie sheets from William Sonoma that are her favorite (and on sale on Cyber Monday!) and new mixing bowls from Crate & Barrel.
Dads getting a car cover for his little hot rod. Going in on that with my older brother.
IL's have repeatedly told us they don't want gifts this year. (They think we're poor all of a sudden because we're having a baby.) So I got him a nice bears pullover and her a board game she's been talking about.
My MIL is so hard to shop for. She's wonderful and incredibly selfless. But that means she never wants anything for herself. One year we got her a bunch of gift cards to have some nights out and we ended up using half of them because she insisted. So no ideas on her yet.
We don't really buy anything for FIL which he always has a fit over. He certainly never gets us anything. He's a man child truck driver who was never involved in DHs life (parents divorced by the time he was six months old) and still isn't really ever around. He lives in 4XL tapered leg sweat pants and zip up hoodies from Kmart. What he really needs is a tooth brush and a bath. He's a winner.
For my parents my sisters and I went in on a beautiful dart board in a wood cabinet from pottery barn for the basement of their new house. I'm so excited to give it to them. They will love it!
I always get my mom a calendar and she doesn't have a cover for her iPhone so I'm going to make her one with DS picture on it. She also wants me to add a pearl to a necklace we got her for the new grandchild, but I think I'll wait until Mother's Day. As for my dad I have no idea!!! I'll let DH figure out his side of the family and we always keep it simple and just get grandparents framed photos of DS for Christmas. This year they'll get his first preschool photo
I found a cute homemade sign on etsy that says "the best parents get promoted to grandparents". This is the first grand kid for my parents so I thought it was cute. It was $17 so super affordable

we don't really do gifts. it becomes too much of a financial burden on the adults which takes away from the actual fun of christmas. plus, we are all old enough to buy anything we need/want. there are loads of kids in the family though, so the entirety of gift giving goes to them!
My MIL always gets a set of handmade earrings from NOVICA because they are all made by small artisans and there are plenty of gorgeous options under $25. Actually about half my gifts are coming from them this year a carved tic-tac-toe set, a carved nativity set and tons of earrings.
My FIL is getting an RC car. We got him an iphone controlled helicopter last year and he loved it. I couldn't think of what to get him because he's well-off and picky but he grew up very poor so no toys for Christmas. Apparently filling childhood wants is the magic ticket for him.
I also use coupon codes and ebates so it really helps with keeping the cost down.
My MIL loves to cook/bake so we got her gifts all centered around that. We got her a Christmas apron, two flat spatulas that have gingerbread cut outs on them, two regular spatulas one that's green with a white snowflake and another that's red with a gingerbread man on it, a Santa suit looking oven mit, and a Christmas cookie recipe book. Every year she bakes Christmas cookies with her granddaughters. My FIL is getting either a big photo of OSU horseshoe stadium or two smaller pictures. My dad will probably get a new OSU sweatshirt. I have no clue what to get my mom. We also do a $50 budget.
I got my mother some winter boots and my dad a bottle of his favorite tequila. Lol. My IL's are too far, they aren't getting us anything and we aren't getting them anything. Although, I was really considering getting a new brain that actually works for my MIL, she has gone bat shit crazy, sleeping with her cousins and what not! @-)
We have a 50$ budget for each fam member as well! Got mom a pair of Victoria secret pajama pants and an Alex and Ani bracelet. Dad is a carpenter and wanted "work jeans" so got him a pair of really good jeans and a flannel shirt. Everything except the Alex and Ani bracelet we got on sale! MIL doesn't want to do gifts this year so nada for her.

The first part of this made me chuckle, the second part made me go @-)@-)@-)too!
FIL is getting slippers and hankies (he asks for hankies), maybe a tomato knife, and not sure what else. MIL is getting H&M cat slippers (she looooves cats), some foot cream from Loccitaine, and not sure what else yet. Maybe a Christmas CD she had asked for last year and didn't receive, maybe a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card. My dad- A new stainless steel pan that is very versatile (he cooks a lot), a case of Sam Adams winter beer variety, maybe a tomato knife will be added. I saw a really cool flashlight I might pick up too. My mom- Josie Maran argan oil (she asked for that), some assorted Tarte lip colors and lip glosses in a little clutch, a Nordic Ware baking pan for little bundt cakes, and we will be revealing baby's sex by putting a ball of pink or blue yarn (she wants to knit things for baby) in a box and that will be the last gift opened as a finale.
If we have time, we plan to make some spiced nuts and snack mix to give to our families along with the store bought items.
My in-laws give us a list of things to choose between, so I helped DH pick an iron for his mom and the second season of Combat for his dad. My parents keep saying they don't want anything, and my dad is really hard to shop for. I had been getting them an ornament and a something else the last couple years, but this year my mom said something about going through her Christmas stuff and having all the kids pick what they want from what she doesn't want to use anymore so I figured more ornaments would not be appreciated. In general I get the sense they're trying to downsize their possessions, so I finally decided bird seed for my dad and a cutesy birdhouse for my mom, since they love watching the backyard birds.
We do a Secret Santa among my parents and siblings, and didn't get my parents in the draw this year. DH and FIL arranged a night in the city for the 4 of us, dinner and the ballet!
