Anyone give themselves p17 shot?

My weekly P17 shot appointment is usually on Wednesday. Christmas and New Year's Day both fall on Wednesday this year. While the shots don't hurt me the thought of stabbing that giant needle into my thigh myself is scary. Should I move my shots to Tuesday or attempt to do it myself?

    I don't give myself my p17 shots. The med assistant at my OB office gives them on Thursdays. Thanksgiving, I got it the Wed before, and had no issues.

    My DH does mine for me. Granted, he is a nursing student so he is used to it, but I've heard of other non-medical DHs doing them. Would that be a possibility? I could never give them to myself so I am in awe of anyone that can! ETA: I don't think there would be a problem with moving the shots up a day either.

    Shots are surprisingly easy. DH gave me intramuscular P4 daily for 3 months. No big deal. Just swipe the alcohol wipe, stab it in, pull back plunger to check that you're not in an artery- and inject. Pull out, swipe with the alcohol swab if it bleeds, and massage area. Done!

    I do all my own subQ shots (lovenox at the moment although I did all my own stims for IVF too) It's not something to be worried about really :)

    I would see if you could do a day earlier or later. I don't think I could physically give myself the shot - well maybe I could twist that way. If you can t move appt have you or dh or someone else be a backup.

    Not me personally but my aunt gives them to me at home, she's a nurse though. You can do them early, but not late. I'd ask your Dr office for their opinion. I wouldn't do it to myself. Also mine are in my butt, not thigh which would be logistically difficult.

    A nurse comes to my house to administer the shots. I personally would move my appointment before or after Christmas.

    I think I'll go the day before, that needle is just too thick and long. Hopefully they will be open on Xmas eve.

    Is it the same size needle as PIO?  I've been wondering.  Waiting for call back from Dr to get script.

    Well I don't give them to myself, but DH does it for me. My HR office is an hour away and we didn't want to drive there once a week just for a shot. One of the nurses spent some time with us the first week of my shots explaining the whole process and teaching DH how to properly inject me. This work perfectly fine for us.
