Update*New to this area (pg after loss) and just looking for support

Just got BFP with digital HPT today! Last month had the same test result at 4 weeks but turned out to be CP and I also have a history of m/c at 6 weeks (but have a healthy toddler). I'm kind of on a time crunch because my husband didn't want to be riding this pregnancy roller coaster for a long time (we said we'd try for a year and that was April). I'm excited but scared because of past history. I can't see my doctor because of traveling until late next week and also have had low HcG and borderline progesterone with each of the last two pg losses. I'm not going to tell the hubby until a few more weeks because I need more time under my belt... If it doesn't stick this time I'm afraid he will lose hope for the both of us. I'm also 35. Has anyone else had similar stories and why is this such a battle for us women?! Frustrated but hopeful...

Thank for for the support and kind, honest words!I would feel better telling hubby likely after I confirm with OB or PCP that this Pg is at least progressing and not dropping right away like last one with HcG and progesterone. I hope to get in and see her this Friday bc I'm traveling for work mon thru Thurs. It's tough. I'm cautiously optimistic. Getting to 8 weeks would be a huge milestone and I'm just at 4 now after my last CP. Last month when I told home. Was pg (found out right when period due) he reacted by asking why I tested so early. I subsequently started bleeding with CP a few days later but after I found out levels were dropping. I didn't really get the emotional support I was looking for that time, so i kind if know what I'm dealing with. I'm strong and tough, but I can already tell there's a lot of support here on the boards and appreciate it!

:( bad update. Less than 24 hours knowing I was pregnant at some point, I started my AF and bleeding. Must have been another CP. Exact repeat of last month. So frustrating. Is there any other reason one would get a positive (HcG being detected) and losing so early? I never thought I'd be in this roller coaster especially after having an easy successful pg with my 4 year old. I guess I'm glad I didn't tell my hubby after now 3 normally conceived pg in the past 7 months that turned out badly. And instill wont be able to get in to see my OB anytime soon. I feel like the family life I planned is so far away...

Oh I'm so sorry. I also have no CPs in my history, but hope you find good info from other ladies & TTCAL. Good luck going forward.

Update... So there's a very small part of me that wonder if I still might be pg after thinking I had CP. I had a small amount of spotting (medium red) then slight amount of dark red/brown during the course of the day. Definitely thought it was AF but then I've had nothing since then (dry tampon) overnight and throughout the da so far. Woke up at 3 am nauseous and breasts still sore from before. The last two times I've lost breat tenderness before spotting. I expected to gush but nothing. Ysterday I chalked it upmcompletely as CP, maybe it's just going to come late? I also took another hpt (not digital) and it was positive. Perhaps I still just have trace amounts of HcG. I'm so confused... Anyone else have spotting around the time their AF was due that stuck? I'm, again, thinking the worst.

    Hi Hun

I am in the exact same boat as you. I lost 2 babies one at 7 weeks and one at 5 weeks. Then I went to a specialist and she prescribed 5 mg folic acid and 400mg progesterone twice a day. I am 5 weeks tomorrow and had a tiny bit of brown blood yesterday but nothing more since then. When I saw the blood I thought my heart was going to break, but now know it's very common. The NHS website says if you are going to get some blood it is usually around when Aunt Flo is due and for me that was yesterday. I had an hcg blood test on Friday and having another one today to make sure it is increasing but in the meantime just trying to relax.

If it's something as simple as a shortage of progesterone like me I would really advise getting it checked and sorted. Going through loss is so so painful and for you preventing it could be really straight forward.

Sending you lots of hugs and positive thoughts xxx

Thank you. It's unfortunate. I'm trying to get in to see by OB or PCP this week. Mine was also right around my AF. I'm going to test again hpt to make sure I'm darker and not due for another CP. Keep in touch!

Ummm...... Update...... I did not have a CP, and the start of what I thought was a CP stopped (light spot). I went in for my first beta HcG and it was 304 at 4 weeks (not sure how many days) and go in tomorrow for follow up levels! I'm cautious to think this might be a successful pg vs. The last 2 m/c, but that's the highest level at thus same point I've had among the levels. I know it all matters on the doubling, so I'm hoping for a good second beta. My progesterone was also better than the last 2 levels and was 16.6. How does this info sound for an update? :)

The spotting could have been implantation bleeding - that often happens around the same time AF is due.

FX for you and sending tons of good thoughts. Hoping you see some doubling numbers and progress.

Congratulations on the good news from your blood test, though sorry it's been such a roller coaster for you so far.  PGAL is hard ... maybe worst early on esp. if your losses have been early?  (Mine were too ... though really I was grateful that if there had to be losses they were early).  FX that your follow-up test will show a good rise!  While doubling/change over time is what tells the most, the number you just got is certainly a good start since it's unlikely that would be found as early as you are if levels were on their way down.  Every little milestone is something!

Also, I totally get the urge to wait to tell your dh 'til you know more .... but it's also really hard to do and sometimes even though they are male they can take more than we think.  I was really tempted to wait to tell my dh, especially the 2nd and 3rd time, but don't think I made it more than 24 hours either time before I caved.  He turned out to be able to take a pretty cautious perspective on it (We know it's early and we know it might not work out) but still be happy and supportive.  Definitely not as excited as he was the first time we got a BFP (but I wasn't either so we were on the same page there, guarding ourselves against more disappointment), but still happy and he said he was glad I went ahead and told him and wouldn't have wanted me to wait.  I'm even older than you (just about to turn 39 now) and was definitely worried that if this turned out to be another loss he might want to call it quits, but ... not sharing probably wouldn't solve it.  One thing that I think did help though was not sharing too much info during the TTC part.  But hopefully this LO will stick for you and you won't even be having to think about TTC again for a long time!

Thank you for those amazing words! I can hardly wait for the next beta, which is tomorrow and I should hear back by end of day. I will base telling hubby on the numbers but also a huge issue right now is that we have both been out of town on separate trips. I will not get alone time with him until next Friday, and that should be the day... I cant tell him something like this over the phone... Fingers crossed for good results and to stay on this board!
