Update: "Material" left in abdomen after delivery

*My midwife who delivered baby just called us at home. she said it was most likely a piece of the placenta left. I'll be seeing her tmrw and probably start antibiotics. Thanks for your we'll wishes. :)

Hi ladies. We welcomed our sweet baby boy on Dec. 2nd after going to my midwife who accidentally broke my water while stripping membranes! We were happy though.
We spent 7 hours in the ER early this morning after I'd been experiencing a fever, swelling so bad you can't see my ankles, severe abdominal pain, bright red bleeding and passed a couple large clots.
The ultrasound diagnoses was "material" in my abdomen. They said it was called "products of conception" or possibly not all of the placenta was removed? That's all we got. They gave me medicine to stop the bleeding and clotting. It's supposed to help uterus contract (and safe to breastfeed with). It was an emotional morning/day for my family but so grateful to be home!
Do you have any knowledge of this?

    I believe that happened with my SIL. She had trouble with her milk supply coming in and then later was told this was the reason. I don't believe she had complications, though. None that I heard of. 
    Expecting Baby #3 to complete our family. 
    I have an adventurous 2 Year Old Toddler Boy & thoughtful 4 Year Old LIttle Girl!

    I have no experience with this, but I wanted to say that I hope you recover quickly, with no other complications.

    So sorry this happened. It happened to my friend and she had a d and c and all was okay.

    Not to scare you, but this happened to my friend. Her placenta came out in chunks, not all one piece and they did not get it all. She kept going back to the hospital and they kept telling her she was fine. Finally she got so sick and went back. She almost died and won a lawsuit because if it. Take care of your self and don't feel bad about going back if you need to.

    Thank you ladies. We have many unansered questions. We're hoping to get more clarity today at Midwife appt. I'm still bleeding bright red blood and cramping alot along with a monster headache upon waking. I want to feel better already! I appreciate your concern and get well wishes.

    Thank you. We saw midwife today and I'm on two more doses of the medication to help contract uterus and stop bleeding. If it doesn't work by Thursday, they'll do D and C Friday. Praying we don't have to but either way we just want to move past this. Take care ladies.

    PS - she believes there's an infection in my uterus also and I'm on an antibiotic. I'm happy we have answers and are being treated.
