Worried I'm going to annoy my Dr

Hi ladies, I have been through one miscarriage. I am now 7 weeks pregnant and my first appt wasn't supposed to be until dec 23rd... I started spotting at 5 weeks and went in and she said things looked good and asked me to come in again the following week. At the second appt I saw the babies heart beat and was super excited. After that appt I started spotting more and more, and it has been like that all throughout this weekend. So I just made another appt with my dr for tomorrow morning... She didn't tell me how fast the babies heart was beating or what my levels were after my appt and I just really want to ask more questions but I don't want to annoy her since this is going to be my 3rd time seeing her and I'm only 7 weeks along. I am just so nervous about this. Do you think she will be annoyed that I keep coming back? I know it's out of her hands but I just feel like I want to know. Thanks ladies, for listening

Re: Worried I'm going to annoy my Dr

  • I don't think you'll annoy her, but I am sure if she was at all concerned about the HB, or your levels, she definitely would have mentioned it.
My doctor told me to always call with spotting, so I think you're fine.

  • She's a doctor.  It's her job.  Spotting can be normal.  If she's telling you to come in, come in!  Be pleasant and not an angry patient and I'm sure she won't be annoyed.

  • I think the doc will be fine, I used to always bring a list of my questions when I saw my OB (cause it was only once a month)

that's their job after all !

  • Thanks ladies :) I'm going to bring a list of questions tomorrow for sure
  • No I don't think you'll annoy her. Spotting is the first thing on the list from my dr of reasons to call.

  • With your history I don't find it annoying at all, plus you're spotting. Not like a new mom, no issues in past, everything going smooth and you're just making stuff up in your head to stress about. It's her job, go in and see her :)

  • I really appreciate the feedback. It's "old blood" but today there was a little clotting so I just went and made the appt on line :) Hopefully she will be as understanding as you ladies
  • Your not going to annoy her. This is a part of her job.

  • She'll be understanding, especially with your history. I hope everything is okay. Like others said, it's a legitimate concern, not that you ate an unbaked Italian hoagie.

  • You have to do what feels right. Ask as many questions as you can. Spotting can be a concern so you are in every right to be calling and making an appointment. I would rather be annoying (if that were the case) then be quiet and stressing out about it. FTM is a scary thing, I'm a FTM, and if I were spotting, I too would be doing the same thing as you.
  • Ditto what the others said: it's her job to answer your questions, so she shouldn't be annoyed.  Plus, you're spotting, which is a definite thing to call for.  T&P that everything is fine and you get to hear a nice strong heartbeat!

  • Thanks ladies! I have an appt for 9 am, I have a list of questions to ask her and a giant hoagie to eat in case I need a snack ;) you ladies are the best! I feel like I have some real support and friends here. Much love to you all!
  • You won't annoy your doctor. They are so used to FTMs asking all these questions and being concerned. I work in the local er and there are lots of FTMs pregnant that come in just for reassurance. I wouldn't worry about it much there is
  • Don't worry about annoying your doctor. That is what they are getting paid to do!! They should be available to address questions and concerns. Im sure they are hearing the same questions from multiple women and FOBs (father of baby) so they are use to answering them. Ask away!

  • I am happy to report my Dr was absolutely amazing to me today and told me never to worry. I hugged her :) and we saw our gummy bears arms starting to form :) Very thankful today! Thank you everyone for your posts! Xoxo
  • One reason I loved my Dr was because I could call would any question and she made me feel like it was okay.  Well I talked to the nurse about 99% of the time, but I never was made to feel annoying or dumb.  Being a FTM is scary and there are a lot of unknowns.  If my dr showed me she was annoyed (because I am sure they vent to each other...lol)  I would find a new one.
