Trigger question and ER.

Hi ladies,

I HCG trigger tonight at 9:30 and my retrieval is scheduled for 930 am on Tuesday.

Any advice to prepare for these? And did you have any trigger side effects? If you did are they the immediate kind or the kind that show up after a few days?

Thanks

Re: Trigger question and ER.

  • Well for me... It felt like a burning rod. LOL but it was definitely bearable. I didn't have any side effects so to speak but the injection site hurt for a few days.  I have heard you can ice it, but I didn't I just took it like a champ. Honestly it sounds worse than what it is and the reason for it makes it seem like nothing.

  • Oh and after your retrieval... drink Gatorade and eat salty foods.

  • Ask for a 3 count and close your eyes. I didn't feel anything. @Freakyfast is a big baby.

The after affects sucked, it's basically all early pregnancy symptoms (even worse IMO, I never really had any symptoms when I was actually pregnant) my boobs were super sore for about a week, I was super bloated and gassy, even nauseous at times- so you have a variety of crappy symptoms to look forward to.  Umm.. I want to say it took a couple days to notice these symptoms, they were very prominent by transfer, and continued for around 4-5days after that point? So maybe a week or so in total.

As far as retrieval, everyone is different- some people are completely under, I was only given a local, so I had a lot of cramping during, for the most part it was tolerable there were a couple sticks that were extremely painful, but I made it through- then I was considerably sore for probably around 4 days? I remember still being a bit sore for my transfer on day 3. I took 3 Tylenol the day after retrieval, then I just dealt with it after that point.

    Good luck.
