Babies on the Brain

A bit worried

and I know I should go out and get a test. I've been on birth control for 2 months. This past month I took the pill late 2 times (all of 30 minutes late) in one week. My OB-GYN told me that if my cycle doesn't come by Saturday when I'm supposed to start my next pack, I am to take a test and call him first thing Monday morning. I had some minimal spotting on Saturday after my FI and I finished our "adult time." It went away the next morning (light light pinkish brown tinge on toliet paper) and hasn't returned.

Typically I start spotting on the Saturday or Sunday before my cycle is to start and my cycle typically starts on my last active pill of my pack and is done on the 2nd active pill of my new pack (thats with 4 inactive/sugar pills in between packs). There are no signs of my cycle starting...however I do have a little bit of slight cramping (not period cramping) and my boobs feel like balloons filled with water. I plan to go out and buy a test or two if I don't see any signs of it starting.

Any tips/advice?

  • Yeah, 30 minutes is nothing.  Sure it's possible you managed to ovulate and conceive but it's unlikely. If you were already concerned, you're likely hyper-sensitive to every ache, twinge, and feeling.  Just take a test!

  • I honestly never in the 6 years that I was on the pill took it at the time time everyday. Some days I would even miss one and have to take two the next day. Just take a test so you can stop worrying. That is the only advice anyone can really give you.

I can't even count the number of times I took my dual pill at weird times, next day, etc. and I've never been pregnant. That's in 12 years plus. Hooray, BC for when you don't want the babies! BUT - what pill only has 4 inactive days? The ones I was on we're always 7 days of each dose. I've never heard of one with only 4 sugar pills.
I'm not a obgyn of course but I believe some are made that way for women who have a hard time with the hormonal changes. I've taken both kinds that had a short 4 day period and I'm on one now that has a 7 day. I was fine with both but my obgyn explained to me some people on my current pill have a hard time with the sudden stop of hormones for a full week so they subscribe the 4 day one.

The BC I'm on is called Generess FE - It's a chewable tablet with 24 active and 4 inactive.  I was advised to take it at the same time every day.  I've had issues in the past with 7 day inactive packs, so they put me on this one.  I had been w/out BC for 3 years and just recently went back on it as I need it to regulate my cycle, etc.   I really want to have a baby, and so does FI, but we aren't getting married until March.  After speaking with him last night, he said if we are pregnant then great, if not, that just means we can have more time practicing.  HAA.

I am picking up a couple tests tonight.  Thanks for all the tips and advice.  It's greatly appreciated.
