Diaper Rash

My 3 month old has his first bout with diaper rash - I feel like the worst mom ever becuase the day care teachers had to tell me, I didn't notice when I changed him yesterday morning :( 

 

I've been washing him with just warm water every diaper change / not using wipes and making sure he's very dry before putting on the but cream.  Other than that, is there anything else I can do?  His little bum is such a sad shade of angry red!

    Open it up to air.  Lay a couple of towels down under LO and crank up the heater.  Let LO have some fun being naked!!

    Possibly try a different cream Desitin did not work at all for us, but A&D does wonders.

    Arbonne has an excellent cream - worth the investment - and without crappy ingredients. Also try coconut oil!

    Ok.  If it gets bad, go to a Walgreens or CVS and get Dr. Smith's Diaper Cream.  It stinks, but it works!!!

    Thanks for the suggestions, we hung out naked last night for a while :) he loved it, and it was really cute to see a naked baby in my living room!

     

    Will try the Arbonne if it doesn't clear up soon.

    I've been having the same problem with my 4 week old baby girl ! My ped recommend a product called triple paste! It comes in a big tub is it's kind of expensive ($20 for a tub) but cleared the rash within a couple days !!! I was extremely surprised how good it worked! I was using destin before and it seemed to only make the rash worse!

    Just wanted to tell you the same thing happened to me! A friend was over visiting and offered to change him and was like "oh, he has a diaper rash... Pretty bad one." I felt horrible, his little butt was so red and I don't know why it didn't occur to me, but you're not alone. We are all just doing our best. Desitin worked for us but it took a few days to completely clear up. People also recommended switching diaper brands to see if maybe he's sensitive to the diaper.

    A & D made my baby's diaper rash disappear literally over night! Keep using just warm water to wipe and make sure it gets aired out which is what my ped told me is the best thing!
