Trouble TTC

Intro and a Question *BFP & Loss Mentioned*

Hi ladies! I'm Ash (28 yo) and my DH (27 yo) and I have been TTC since May 2010. It took us 15 months to get our very first BFP which unfortunately ended with an ectopic pregnancy. Exactly 1 year later we got our second BFP, but that also ended with an ectopic pregnancy. In January my OB did the laparoscopic surgery to check for Endo. He didn't find any, but did find that my last ectopic did not completely "resolve itself" and was still stuck in my right tube, so he removed the tube. Fast forward today and we still have not had a successful pregnancy and no real answers as to why. My OB did say that after the new year he would do another HSG to see if my left tube was still open/clear and we would go from there. I am really beginning to think that we should start researching/seeking out an RE after my HSG. Would the RE's office be able to tell me how much the visits/testing will be based on my insurance? And do I need to wait and be referred or can I go on my own? Probably silly questions, but we feel like we are starting from square 1. Thank you for any help/advice you can offer. I really appreciate it!

I'd call your ob's office and ask for an RE referral, you can google them first or ask the local boards if they recommend anyone. RE's are the way to go! My RE office charged $150 for a basic first appt, the money kind of goes in to an acct at their office and they use it towards any procedures u get done that are not covered. Bloodwork they can label as preventative or panels, so they are usually covered. Most RE offices have one person specifically designated to do just insurance. Keep us updated @ashpink25 and welcOme to 3t hopefully your visit is short!

  • Thank you ladies! You are awesome! I'm dreading going through all of this, but feel like I would much rather have answers and feel like I'm working towards the end goal instead of sitting on my hands.

  • Welcome and I am so sorry for your losses! The support here is really great. Since you have been ttc for over a year, I would definitely go see an RE. They are going to have the best answers for your issues. Also, they may want to repeat HSG and do some other testing. Find an Re that you think sounds good and give then a call...they will fill you in on what you need to do for insurance and all of that. Good luck!
