Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Kids shoes

My daughter is 15 months and wears a size four.  I am having the hardest time finding winter shoes for her.  She has a pair of Uggs but they are not good for outdoors because they don't have soles. I have looked all over the place for nice boots that will keep her feet warm and be good outside.  Target doesn't carry any boots in size four and the fives slide right off of her feet.  The only thing I have found are Bogs.  Does anyone have experience with them or any other brands they would like to suggest?  Thanks!

  • DS has size five rubber boots we bought on Amazon. It took a day or two for him to get used to them but now they are by far his favorite shoes. He can put them on by himself so he really likes that.

We had the same problem finding hard sole shoes. DS had small feet and is just barely wearing fives now at 20 months. We bought a lot of his shoes at Walmart because they have hard soles in the smaller sizes. Once they bump up to size five the choices drastically increase!

  • Sorel makes a toddler 4 in their "snow commander" style. DD wears a 4 or 4.5 in stride rite shoes, but we got her a toddler 5 in kamik's and they fit well enough. There's an elastic piece that straps around her ankle to make them tight, and them her snow suit legs pull over the top and help keep them on.

  • Babies R Us has some rubber boots in a few different patterns. I have seen boots in Stride Rite but I do not know if they had the rubber kind.

  • I can vouch for the Bogs.  My dd is 18 months, still in a 4/5, but when I needed rain boots she was a 3/4.  The Bogs come in 4 and are rated to -10 celcius, so are good for a fairly moderate winter climate.  They've been awesome.  Easy to get on, washable, hard wearing and warm/waterproof.  We have warmer winter boots for the really cold and snowy days, but the Bogs are great and I will definitely get another pair for next fall/winter.
  • I bought DS some really cute winter shoes from H&M a few months ago. They have a soft furry lining and a good sole, too. It does not look like they have them online anymore, but if you have an H&M near you, it may be worth checking out.
