Sleep deprivation and high blood pressure

Yes I'm suffering from sleep deprivation, and I've noticed that my pressure has gone up in the past few days. I'm already on medication for it, but if I don't get a handle on this, I have a feeling I'll have to have my meds increased. Anybody else experiencing this? What have you done to improve it? My LO is now 17 days old.

Re: Sleep deprivation and high blood pressure

  • I had post partum preeclampsia and it resolved on its own around 6 weeks...once all the hormones had cycled out. I typically have low BP and was put in meds after if spiked after the birth. So long as you're feelin well and no headaches and what not just do your best to breathe and rest when you can.
Hopefully it will resolve in a few more weeks.

    Good luck!

  • Thank you ladies. I believe a lot of mine is sleep deprivation and stress. I'm going through other personal things. I've been trying to sleep when LO sleeps. It's really helping me a lot. Also I've had to increase my meds until further noted by the doctor. I'm hoping I won't have to take it for too much longer.
  • My pressures where always higher when I was tired, and also later in the evening. Do you take yours in the morning when you first get up as well? I was on lebatolol and procardia for 10 weeks before I was weaned off I know it's rough. The stress of having a newborn doesn't help and it definitely gave me anxiety every time I put the cuff on, hope yours gets better soon!
