The thread from a few days ago got me thinking. I haven't updated my resume since I've been married because I haven't needed to. I changed my name legally to First Name - Maiden Name (as middle name) - Married Last name, but professionally I continue to use my maiden name. I worked for over 13 years in my profession under my married name, and have been published under this name in professional journals. Moreover, my married name is one of those ridiculous French names where they add in a bunch of consonants that aren't pronounced, and I didn't want to deal with correctly the mispronunciation of my last name over and over.
When I update my resume, should I include my married legal name on it even though I don't use it professionally? I'm thinking yes for any background search or social security/tax issue.
