My UO: I love the act of giving gifts at Christmas time but this year I just don't feel like dealing with all of the shopping. I wish I could just give everyone gift cards and just be done with it. The only person I'm really excited to buy for is DD and she won't even remember this Christmas.

This, except I feel like all the nieces and nephews have so much stuff already that they don't need more stuff. So I just feel all grinch like, and don't really want to buy any more things.
My UO: I hate when people act like they did something "special" to make their kids eat well/sleep well, etc. DD has a great sleeper, and easy going but i don't particularly think we did anything "special" to make her that way. I think she's naturally a good sleeper and we got lucky. The end. quit making other women feel bad that their kids aren't "easy" and that they are doing something wrong. I think there are things you can do to FACILITATE some of it, but I think SO much of it is based on babies personality and temperament as well.
Little Riley-our first little girl coming March 1st, 2013 (or sometime around there;)
I would be a thousand times happier if grandparents would just send me money and let me pick out toys I know my kids will love and actually play with. I made a list of suggestions, but I'm still afraid my MIL will send another box of crap that I will have to make disappear. I'm already trying to figure out what to do with the 26 framed 4x6 framed letters-with-fairies thing my SIL sent and the 8 jars of homemade (and questionable) jam.
I'm also being a grouch because my church's Christmas dinner will not be including Santa. I know "Jesus is the reason for the season" and all that, and they're just focusing on that since it is a church dinner, but still! Now I have to go track down another Santa this year so I can get pictures.
my uo is along the same lines as everyone else's..I really do not want to buy gifts besides dd. sounds terrible but I just don't have the energy to worry about Christmas beyond what I want to do for her.
Early fffc along the same lines...despite these feelings I have no problem telling people what to get for dd if they ask. Is that bad? It's not that I would have a problem with anyone not buying her gifts but if they're planning on it I'll tell them
My UO is that I wish all of my "in laws" (this includes aunts, uncles, brothers, ect) would fall off the face of the earth and resurface after Christmas. I'm tired of them already and the holiday hasn't happened yet

Agreed! I am not the one "bragging" about my LO - my MIL is! My SIL just had a baby last week and she's been having a lot of trouble with breastfeeding. MIL keeps telling her how well it went for me and telling her to call me for advice. While I would certainly talk about everything with SIL if she wanted to, I can't help but feel like MIL's constant comments about my "easy baby" are just going to make SIL feel bad. I know that every mother and baby are different and I certainly can't pretend to know it all. Honestly, I just got lucky and BFing turned out to be easy for us. SIL is really bummed about the whole thing and I really hope that MIL's comments aren't making her feel worse.
I know it's Friday now, but it was on Thursday. I did not like the live Sound of Music last night.
Are you serious? I ate that shit up! It did bother me how the songs were in different scenes though. The storm scene without My Favorite Things? Just not right.

I feel like they must have blown their budget to pay Carrie Underwood because the lighting and some of the sets (especially the forest) were awful. I felt like the acting was blah in some parts but overdone in other parts. Overall, the whole thing was just not worth the hype. I knew going into it that it wouldn't be as good as the real thing (who can top Julie Andrews?!?) but I thought that it would have been better than it actually was.
That being said, I still watched happily and enjoyed the music. In the future though, if I have to pick between watching the new or old version, I'll definitely go with the old!

It just was not worth the hype. I said it on Facebook & another board, it's such a well known show that when the details don't work the whole thing just falls apart. At least it did for me.

This was based on the stage version, not the movie. That's why the songs seemed to be in different places. Also, Carrie was not doing Julie Andrews's Maria so much as Mary Martin's.

I didn't realize that. That makes sense. I think I've seen the movie a few too many times (if there is such thing)...

if it was what we did or didn't do then how do ppl explain ppl who have 1 kid who is a great sleeper and 1 who isn't. I do think part of it is based on the parents but mostly it is the baby. Some babies are easier then others. Also, w/ bfing it has nothing to do with how the person does it. It is not an easy thing and just does not work for some people. People can show you how to do it but sometimes it just doesn't work.
