Canine teeth

Just curious when your LO's got their canine teeth.  DS is almost 20 months and still doesn't have any of them.  I hear they are miserable so not looking forward to it.

Re: Canine teeth

  • I think with any teeth, it depends on the child.  DS is 15 months and has a few. They did seem more painful than when his molars came in.

  • DS still doesn't have his.  They have been coming in very slowly and will swell up and be painful for a while and then stop again.  He is a slow teether in general, though.

  • DS got his 1 year molars right around 13 months and shortly after he got his canines - around 14 months.  The canines took FOREVER to cut through.  They were the worst.  All four are through.  I don't think it's normal for a 16 month old to have 16 teeth though!  It will be nice to have a good break before his 2 year molars...or so I hope!

  • DS just broke his first canine on Saturday/Sunday and the second one yesterday. They seriously took like a month. After the first one came in, his mood immediately improved the next day. DH keeps commenting about how happy DS has been in the last couple of days. I guess they are pretty painful and do take forever. I can see the bottom ones starting to make their way up but I'm guessing it might be a while before those break through.

  • Like everyone said they take forever. DS is 23 months and the top canines took months and are almost totally in. The bottom canines just started ~X(

  • DD (18 months) is getting hers.  At least 1 has popped through.  She chews on her hands like crazy, but hasn't really been fussy.

  • Dd just got her lower ones at 20 mos. I agree with the pp about the hand chewing and not being too fussy. The molars were way worse for her.

  • LO got his at 16 months. Unlike the 1 year molars that took just 1 week for all 4 to come in, these canines have taken 2 months to come in and LO has seemed far more fussy about it.
  • My girl is 18 months and she's been going through it for the past few weeks.  I can see the whites but they haven't cut through yet.  We've been popping teething tablets and Ibuprofen like crazy trying to keep her comfortable.
So happy for my BFPB Steff13914 and her new twins! Welcome to the world sweet babies:) Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • DD is cutting her first one now, along with a molar. Fun times!
