Hi again, I wrote about something similar yesterday, but I think my subject line wasn't exactly clear (it seemed like I was nervous about going to my first U/S)!!!
However, I wanted some people to write their experiences to possibly (hopefully!) ease my mind a bit. Went for my first U/S at what I thought was 6 weeks, 1 day, but measured about 5 1/2 weeks. I was told by the dr. that he saw a gestational sac AND yolk sac (which is a good sign!), but no fetal pole or H/B yet. I was reading a lot online that this is very normal so early, and my dates could be a bit off (esp. after my late term loss a couple mos. ago)...I am going back for a second U/S next week (with another dr. in the group who I don't know well, so that makes me nervous in case it is bad news!).
Any advice/similar stories that ended 'well' (I hope!)?
I forget exactly how far along I was, but at 5w and change I saw the same (gestational & yolk sac). That developed into a very lively 2yo. Hope you're in for the same!
People's experiences seem to vary a bit with this. So you shouldn't be too alarmed if you don't see something today that maybe one of us saw at 6 weeks. The doctor should be able to tell you what is or isn't normal at this stage of the game.
I had an early ultrasound for spotting at 5 weeks and they saw a gestational sac and yolk sac only. I had another ultrasound just this morning. They saw a fetal pole and heartbeat. They measured the baby at 6 weeks, 2 days, so very close to what I calculated based on when I ovulated.
Sending lots of good vibes for a wonderful ultrasound today!
Good luck today:) I saw a gestational sac, yolk sac, fetal pole and heartbeat at 6 weeks. My heartbeat was a bit low because it had just started. 2 weeks later, it was strong and perfect. Try not to be concerned if you don't see a heartbeat today. It could go either way and still be fine.

Your u/s does sound normal - you can easily be a few days off and that early, just a few days makes a huge difference!
I didn't have an ultrasound this time until I was 6w6d so we saw yolk sac, HB, fetal pole, etc. But my doctor told me in week 5 you can expect to see a sac, sometimes a yolk sac, SOMETIMES a fetal pole and sometimes but not usually a HB (later in the 5th week).
At 6w2d we saw a heart beat. Good luck at your next u/s!

I had a u/s at 6w1d, and I also saw a heartbeat [that was with an abdominal u/s; a transvaginal u/s showed the developing baby]. Sounds like what you saw was normal; sending lots of positive vibes that your next u/s goes well!
My story was similar to yours although I did see a fetal pole (though I was 6 weeks exactly and knew it because I temped). I wrote about it in your post yesterday, but to recap, after seeing a fetal pole and measuring behind at 6 weeks, baby's heart started beating and I have had several good ultrasounds. If you only thought you were 6w 1d because of your LMP, it's definitely possible that you were farther behind then you thought. Very few people actually ovulate on day 14. So you have good reason to have hope!
