Babies: 0 - 3 Months

newborn

When my baby girl is only 3 months old, I may have to take a quick 2 day trip away from her! :(  Is this possible? Can I produce enough milk for dad to feed her? Will she take a bottle that young and is she too young for formula at that age or is that not advised.
This is going to be so hard if I have to do this but I need to know if it is even an option. Help! Thank you..

Re: newborn

  • Yes, yes, and yes.  Start pumping in advance so you can get a good stock for dad to feed her.  Also, start introducing her to the bottle early so it's not a complete shock.  I introduced DS to the bottle early on because I went back to work after 6 weeks and obviously he had to be bottle fed while I was at work.  When you're away, pump at the same intervals you would nurse so your supply isn't affected.

  • My lo is 2 months and I'm going out of town next weekend. I've been able pump well beyond enough milk the last two months for the trip. She had a bottle from birth (nicu for three days and on feeding tube) and is fine now with going back and forth from nursing to bottle when I'm away. This is the least of my problems- I'm going to miss her so much!!!
