Mamas of 2 under 2

Is it as scary as I imagine it to be? I'm not pregnant yet but DH wants to try to get PG as soon as DD turns 1. Truth be told he wants me KU like 3 months ago but I wanted to wait until DD was 18 months. One year was sort of our compromise but it freaks me out.

Was/is it awful? Would you do it again?

  • Everyone says its a lot of work at first then it's great. I'll let you know!

  • My boys are 19 months apart. I had just lost all my baby weight too. There are days I love it and they are so amazing. There are other days that are challenging. The biggest thing is planning everything in advance and hoping for no public meltdowns.

This time it seems that it's harder to lose the weight, even though I weighed less with DS2 than DS1. That's my biggest stresser right now.

Yes I'd do it again, but if I do another LO...these 2 will be potty trained.

  • My kids are 17 months apart. 2u2 is hard in the beginning, but things are starting to really smooth out now and I really like the age difference in my kids. They are starting to interact and it's so cute. As PPs said, leaving the house is tough, but it gets easier.
I would definitely do 2u2 again. Even though it was hard at first, I'm starting to really see how it gets easier as they get older. My H wants us to have a third with similar spacing. I'm super scared about that though... For some reason going from 2 to 3 really makes me nervous.

  • I think what I'm most nervous about is the exhaustion. I feel like I've been chewed up and spit out with one kid. She sleeps like crap and won't take a bottle. I just can't imagine having to chase around a toddler on top of that.
  • @motang my DH will feel the same about number 3. Aye curumba.
  • Mine are 17 months apart. The first 10 wks were rough. My first baby was so easy and slept so well then DS came along. He still doesn't sleep, doesn't take a bottle and has to be held.

Yesterday the kids were playing together and laughing hysterically at each other. It melted my heart. Of course 5 min later DD was shoving a toy in DS's mouth and gagging him so yeah not all puppies and rainbows. I felt like I spent the first 3 months just trying to keep DD from killing her brother.

My husband wants to go for 3u3 only because he wants to get the baby stage over with. I want to wait. I might have 2u2 again but not 3u3. No thank you!

  • I'm a 2u1 momma(11 months apart). The beginning is definitely tough and James was just starting to walk so not sure how it would be with a climbing toddler and newborn. At this stage we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. However, they are both teething, both going through separation anxiety phases and both wanting attention at usually the same time. It is nice to see them interacting with each other now. It can be quite comical at times even.
I'm still not getting much sleep but I also suffer from insomnia so by the time I do get to fall asleep it is usually when Alexander is waking up for MOTN feeding. Then when I get him back to sleep finally its only 30 min. till my oldest is getting up for school.
Would I change the spacing? Well we didn't plan this close of a spacing but we were going to start TTC when James was 6mo so we would still have had 2u2 if everything had gone according to plan. So I guess I would change the closeness of our spacing but would still have done 2u2 spacing.
Would I do it again? Some days I would say no but as I'm starting to see them interact with each other I would say yes.

This is how I feel too. My mom did say I was already prepared for a difficult one, so maybe I would get an easy one next time. Thanks mom!
