NTPR - Sucky Topic...D&C's

So I am getting nervous for tomorrow, since I have never had a D&C. Anything I need to know? Also, the part that is making me antsy is...How long until I can exercise? I have seen so many different responses! I really miss my workouts and well honestly for my mental health I hope I can get back to my running soon.

April 2013 DE IVF= BFN

September 2013 DE IVF (Fingers Crossed) = BFFFN! again...

October 2013 FET of our last 2 = Beta Hellzz for 6-7 Weeks. M/C

    I am so sorry that you are going through this. I have had three unfortunately. The emotions were much worse than any part of the procedure or physical recovery.

    One heads up, at the surgery center that I have had to go to they make you take a pregnancy test if you are having a D&C, which I feel like is just cruel.
    Of course it will be positive because the HCG will not have fallen very far yet and then I have always had to hear the nurse report the positive test to my doctor and him say its OK b/c its not a viable pregnancy. Knife in already shredded heart every time.

    As far as physical exertion, when I had a D&C to remove scar tissue I went back to exercising the next day. However, my D&Cs after m/c I was still restricted because of my large ovary size post-ivf. With a FET, you probably don't have that issue so I would think the down time will be minimal.

    Just listen to your body as much as you can. I found that when I couldn't exercise, long walks helped my anxiousness and mood but weren't too strenuous.

    @lincoln79 thank you for that heads up! It was bad in enough to go to my gyno office on Monday and she did the ultrasound in the pretty ultrasound room with all of the US pics :(  and I am hoping that my restrictions are not to bad since, this is basically to remove any tissue left.

    *HUGS* I hope everything goes smoothly for you. As for me, I've had 4 d&cs while trying to start a family. With my first, I had to wait 2 weeks to exercise. With my 2nd, I didn't have to wait at all, and with my 3rd and 4th, I believe I had to wait 1-2 weeks and/or until I was done bleeding. It really depends on your situation and the doctor. The overall experience wasn't horrible...I was just groggy after I had it done. 

    TTC since April 2010
    BFP #1 – March 2011, missed m/c April 2011
    BFP #2 – October 2011, m/c November 2011
    Surprise BFP #3 – December 2011, diagnosed as cornual, terminated January 2012
    BFP #4 – June 2012, m/c July 2012
    Diagnosed with bicornuate ute and MTHR gene mutation
    BFP #5 – October 2012, missed m/c November 2012
    BFP #6 – January 2013, m/c March 2013
    No longer TTC. Diagnosis: Hostile ute. Heartbroken and bitter. Pursuing surrogacy.
    June 2013 - Carrier found! Could this really happen?!

    No advice as my D&C was to remove polyps. M/C was natural. Just wanted to give you a hug. I know it sucks.

    TTC #1 since 8/1/10; Me:41 and BRCA1+, DH:46
    DOR (FSH 24.3)/ terrible egg quality ; homozygous MTHFR c677t
    5 IUI's: 2/11 to 6/11 and 1/12= BFN
    OE IVF#1-4 8/11-6/12= all BFN
    DE IVF#1 11/12 bad embryos= BFN
    DE IVF #2 2/13 BFP/Beta hell: m/c 5w6d
    CFNBC 7 months, not doing well; decided on guarantee program at RBA w/frozen DE
    DE IVF #3 1/14  ET 4BB; BFP;M/C 5w1d, incomplete m/c; MVA extraction in ER 7w1d

    DE FET#1 ET 3/1714; BFP, beta 1 3/27= 197, beta 2 3/31= 1586, beta 3 4/7= 13879!!
    First u/s= Twins with HBs at 6w2d! We are Team Pink x 2!!

    Me (32) DOR, elevated NK Cells/ 2 copies of MTHFR mutation/ MH (35) azoo/high DFI   (TTC#1 since 2009)

    IVFs#1-4: (4/10-2/12) all BFN

    Surprise Bfp (9/11) - c/p

    DS IUI#1-2 (9/12, 10/12) - BFN

    DS IVF: (11/12) - BFN

    DE/DS IVF#1: (10/13) - 2 day 3 embies transferred-BFFN

    FET of 2 day 6 blasts: (12/13) - c/p

    DE/DS IVF #2: (4/14) - 1 day 5 blast transferred...BFFN...again.

    FET 5/14: 1 day 5 hatching blast transferred...another BFFN

    Repeat SHG 6/14-normal / Endometrial Receptivity Array biopsy 7/14-Receptive Uterus

    New RE, additional testing reveals elevated NK Cells

    FET of 1 day 5 blast (RE recommends transferring 1 due to elevated NK cells) with lovenox, steroids & intralipids in October

    I definitely felt each time that I couldn't even start to deal with the emotional until the physical was taken care of...
    just as an fyi, b/c of this mh and i were on a different "grieving schedule" (ie he was a couple of weeks ahead of me). it was really important for me to communicate this fact to him so he could understand

    mh and i will be thinking of you and your partner tomorrow.

    Ug. First, I'm so sorry :(

    For me, I had a D&E since I was 16w when we lost our baby. The worst for me was waking up and knowing it was really over, I sobbed like crazy when I came out of the anesthesia! I wouldn't even let them get J until I settled down. That surprised me, as it'd been a week since my loss was confirmed.

    But the procedure (a little more involved than D&C) went fast, and honestly I did take the vicodin more to numb me out emotionally than to deal with physical pain...I only bled a tiny bit the day of, nothing more. And I got AF about 5 weeks after.

    Good luck with it, it sucks, but you'll be all tidy and ready for whatever you decide to do next. Hugs.

    Mar. '13 - Missed m/c at 16w1d, baby boy stopped growing at 15w4d
    Loss due to umbilical cord clot...baby was perfect. :(
    Jul '13 - FET#1 - c/p
    Sept. '13 - FET#2 - BFN
    Dec.' 2, 2013 - FET#3 with our last chance embie - BFP!!!
    Dec' 26, 2013 - hb!!
    EDD 8/20/14 with a baby girl!
    Little S was born on 8/21/14 - 8lb, 14 oz and 20 inches long.
    We live in Seattle and used SRM for our donor egg IVF cycle

    ME:46 MH:44 DE IVF 2014
    Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive.  Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

    DE IVF #1 (4/26) BFN  DE FET #1 (6/4) BFP! Beta 1=339 Beta 2=852 Beta 3=9957 EDD 2/22/15!!

    I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Big hugs! One thing I remember from my D&C that I wish someone warned me about was that very large clots can come out a few days to a week or so later. Mine was for a missed m/c at 9 weeks. Sorry this is gross, I was freaked out and called the on call dr when I found I had passed a huge mass of clots during a 45 min car ride. Just be prepared that something like that may happen. Again, I'm very sorry.

    9/15/14 - Our first son born thanks to donor eggs at RBA after 7 failed own egg IVF cycles.

    It's not easy more emotionally than the actual procedure. Good luck. I hope everything goes smooth and you can recover from this as soon as possible!! Hugs

    8/1/12 - IVF #1 - Zero response from max stims (600iu intramuscularly)
    My ovaries are just for decoration

     12/6/12 - Adopted five embryos that had been frozen for over ten years!
     2/11/13 - DEmbryo FET #1 Thawed four, sadly two didn't survive. Transferred two beautiful blasts. 
     2/16/13 - First BFP of my life @ 6dp5dt! EDD 10/30/13
     3/27/13 - After beta and u/s hell, no heartbeat ever detected. D&C at 9w1d.

    6/5/13 - Adopted four new embryos that had been frozen for seven years!      
    9/12/13 - DEmbryo FET #2. Thawed and transferred two beautiful blasts
    9/17/13 - BFP @ 5dp6dt! EDD 05/31/14
     9/29/13 - m/c @ 5w1d. :(

    11/19/13 - DEmbryo FET #3. Thawed and transferred one blast from each batch. Wow!
     11/23/13 - BFP @ 4dp6dt! EDD 8/7/13
    Beta #1 @ 13dp6dt - 522  Beta #2 @ 16dp6dt - 1373 
    6w5d ultrasound showed one perfect baby with a beautiful heartbeat of 134bpm!

    Snowflake baby is a girl! 
    Our beautiful Snowflake girl arrived on July 22, 2014!
