Sad diagnosis for my large fur baby

One of my horses had lameness issues in her knee a few years ago and had surgery to try and help it. The surgery worked okay and she was a bit more comfortable, but not great. She has a degenerative arthritis with no cure. Today she was diagnosed with the same disease in her other knee. So now comes the hard choice of when to euthanize her. She is like a big dog and so sweet. I am heartbroken because she is only 12 and I thought we had another 15 years left together. She is still comfortable enough right now to just be a horse we just can't ride her. They are not sure how long she will last, could be a couple months, maybe a year. I hate today...thanks for listening ladies.

Always a difficult decision as an animal owner.

I had to decide to stop treating my heifer last year on my birthday (two days before Christmas) and she was only a year and a half. Cherish the time you have left! Thoughts and prayers wishing for the best outcome for you and your gorgeous fur baby

Aww, that sucks! Hopefully you can have a little more time to enjoy together before you have to say goodbye. This is the part I hate the most about being a fur mama...

Thank you everyone. I'm still in shock and can't imagine life without her. She has helped me teach little kids to ride, been an awesome trail partner and a great listener when I have needed it. I hope she gets to meet the baby, I always thought she would be my kids first pony.
